Eh. Even addiction experts will say that this line of black and white thinking is both tricky, somewhat outdated and for many addicts may serve to be counter-productive. The reality is that its a little bit of BOTH. Like many, many things that effect us there are elements of "nurture" and "nature" that can go into that pathology. Because part of the 'cure' if you will IS a decision making process, every day, to live a lifestyle. It is, therefore, unique from other diseases in that respect that do have a more black and white sort of pathology. There was a piece last year in the Atlantic about the research being done where there is a negative effect with some addicts in the whole "I am powerless over XXXX" being a per-requisite for sobriety. |

This is the ENTERTAINMENT forum, not off-topic or parenting or food. If you don't care about pop culture and its participants, why are you here? Sports and reality TV are part of pop culture. I don't care for the Kardashians, but you don't make another person a drug addict, transgender, or alcoholic. Those men are responsible for their own life and choices. It never ceases to amaze me how men will blame women for everything. Everyone has vices and issues. You make your own choices. |

I agree with this. And I think the Kardashians are sort of ridiculous, but you never hear of them having issues with addiction/drinking/etc. They seem focused on their businesses, their family, and marketing themselves. Annoying? Sure. But at least they aren't addicts and hangers-on. |

The witnesses tell TMZ ... doctors have determined the former NBA star had cocaine and opiates in his system. We're told doctors have told people close to Lamar the fluid they found in his lungs was the result of crack cocaine use. We're also told several of Lamar's party friends have come to the hospital to see him but they were turned away. |
