received an email that I shouldn't have received

Maybe just laugh it off, OP. You may be a little low in EQ, but the guy who accidentally sent the email is extremely low in IQ!

I can see why you want to respond, but it's probably only worthwhile if you really are interested in a post. If not, just leave it.

The fact that you're on this board asking for opinions makes you low EQ. Yes the were recruiting you, these days you should feel good about that, and while you might think that gives you the power, the reality is that one day you might need that job. So you do one of two things, you either politely decline or you go into candidate mode. In candidate mode you are the one who is accomodating. Anything else makes you appear to be arrogant or tone deaf, generally known as low EQ.

I'm frankly shocked at all the idiots responding in this thread. "Perusing" the job, "your" not getting the job -- how did you people even find this website? And why do you feel qualified to give out career advice??

THEY APPROACHED HER. That means they accommodate her needs, not the other way around.

Do you do any hiring at all? It makes her nothing of the sort. If you ran recruiting operations at my firm with that attitude you'd be out on your ass so fast your head would spin.

Even if they did, the sense of entitlement is astounding. To think someone in another part of the world, should forego their bedtime to make room to interview her. No one is that indie spendable. No one

I would have said it is not a big deal but OP is becoming more defensive with each post. Not someone who I would want working for me.

So if you get the job and uproot your family to Asia, will you be be ok with taking 10pm calls every night?

OP - you sound awful. Hope they no longer pursue you.

Oh god, and in responding to that PP, you made punctuation errors, wrote an incomplete sentence, and then pulled out "indie spendable." I hope this was intended to be funny, because if not, it's just sad.

Forget about it. Try saying "low EQ" aloud 10 times with a Chinese accent. The move on.

+1. Even after so many have told you, you refuse to accept that 10am was a completely unreasonable suggestion. It is essentially mid-day.

That's the autocorrect on my IPad you dunce. I didn't bother correcting it , with the assumption that people were smart enough to understand and read it as indispensable. Obviously you aren't one of them

Anonymous wrote:OP here. Now I am annoyed. I didn't initiate anything and now I am labeled as "low in EQ". And this guy has no decency to apologize to the email I wrongly received.

It's irrelevant that they initiated talking to you. When the conversation progressed, you expressed an unwillingness to communicate on their schedule. They're still the ones with the job offer, so they get to dictate interview terms. Right or wrong, being unable to meet those terms is off-putting to those doing the hiring.
