I don't want to read it, but can someone summarize why the "Kane" thread is SO long?

LOL!!!!!!

yes let's get back on topic here.

Here is what I have picked up:
- he is a local DJ
- he is (maybe?) getting divorced
- his ex is named Natasha

that wouldn't take 170 pages though ..

Lots and lots of debate on the party in the wrong.

I listened Kane when he first took over the previous morning show. Can't stand that type of morning show or most anyway. They are the reason I got xM.

are people who actually know them debating? how does anyone know details? What are people saying that each party did?

I've been wanting to start this thread too. what is so fascinating about this story?? I clicked over to the last page of it a few times and got no insight at all.

People know details because (and this is what started the discussion) he talked about it on air for 10-15 minutes, but you can't find the podcast anywhere because 99.5 refuses to upload it. So, unless you heard it live, you wouldn't get the full story. Some people were able to summarize it pretty well, then it turned into a he said/she said argument. People found Natasha's Instagram that had discussion as well because she posted pictures of her kids. Until the MD Court site closed it, people could find out a lot of details of what is in the divorce proceedings.

He has a big audience, that is why there is such an interest in this story. Remember when Jim Vance had drug issues in the late 70's and early 80's. That story went public as well.

i know of the guy (Kane) and saw his OCD story on channel 4 news a while back. no way am i'm wading thru 169 pages though. apparently his wife left him and took the kids and wiped out the bank account.

i listen to local radio and find it very important per the poster who knows way more than i do. i also watch local news which is probably as equally unrefined.

news 4 has some mental health segment they've been doing and jim vance shared his story on there recently too.

They shared the Jim Vance story? What is his issue? Since this thread was perpetuated by Kane's OCD. I am all for local news publicizing information and resources about mental health issues. There are obviously not enough people with issues seeking help. I would favor famous people brining mental health issues to the forefront - even if it is local celebrities.

it amazes me that some people can totally keep their heads in the sand. even if you don't listen to adult contemporary/r&b and you're from this area you should've at least met a black person who knows who donnie simpson is. local radio dj in this area for a most of the 80s/90s. left 93.9 five years ago and is now back on the air at 102.3.

i don't know much about or like that kane show crap but i know who he is/what he's known for.

I probably know more about politics, international relations, religious history, books, or economics than you do. I think those things are more important for me to pay attention to than some local dj's. Glad you got YOUR priorities straight though.

Np here. You sound ridiculous saying you probably know more about politics...than the PP. While you might be impressed with yourself, no need to judge others. I'm a junkie when it comes to politics and international relations, and I listen to NPR all the time, but I also know who Kane and Donnie Simpson are. I don't think that makes me above or below anyone, it's just what I like. Also, why are you on an entertainment thread ? Shouldn't you be reading something of more substance?

OK, now we are getting somewhere. Since no one will summarize I'll ask leading questions one by one.

- Why did she leave?

x2.

Worst thread on DCUM.

It's that long because he has a crazy fanbase that responds to each other incessantly and seem to be using that thread as a kind of message board to chat about their day and bash the guys wife. It's weird.

Almost as crazy as the "Odd Mom" thread OP.

The rumor is she couldn't handle his health issues (OCD for example). However, she has had medical issues as well. Go back up a few posts, there is a decent summary there.

I never made that connection but you're right- they both attracted a very strange group of people.

And woe unto the casual DCUM commentator who happens to wander into that thread and wonder what the hell is going on. They will attack you with the force of a thousand badly misspelt insults.

They say she left because he had OCD which was difficult to manage, and he was addicted to social media and would do periscope whenever he could. I didn't know what that was until the Kane thread. She has fibromyalgia and Lyme. These things alone were hard to handle. They had two kids which added to the burden. Fans said she was bitchy to him whenever he called her on-air. Fans said she was a gold digger.
They recently bought an expensive home in md and then he bought her an Audi because she didn't like driving the minivan. Fans said that's alot of money to spend at once. She hit retaining wall with new car and he mentioned that in the divorce 15 min segment. Wild speculation as to what exactly happened with that accident. She spends thousands on Pinterest crafts. Then people who know her jumped to her defense saying she had a good reason to leave. The night she left she cleared the bank accts, stockpiled visa gift cards, and took everything from the home including family pics of the kids. Then commenters argued about the possibility of these specifics. Someone looked up the divorce filing and her traffic tix. Posters called other posters stalkers. Then it devolved into why The former co hosts left Kane show and how spinoff show sucks. I read the first 80 pages. Shameful, I know. But that's what I got out of it.

There's this little thing called "Recent Topics." That's how. After seeing a 'Why is Kane divorcing and he's crying right now" or whatever the thread was called up here for so many days and ignoring it, I did finally click on this one called, "Why is the Kane thread so long?" b/c I too was like, "Who the heck is Kane and what is going on?"

(What type of radio show do they have? What type of music? Maybe it's not a genre I listen to. (?) Maybe I am not their demographic, I don't know! I am 42, white, live in NoVA with 2 kids. As I said, I also grew up here - NoVA.)

Top 40 music like this from Billboard (http://www.billboard.com/charts/hot-100), which multiple radio stations use the same format in this area. Your kids probably listen to some of that type of music.

LOL, my kids are 7 and 3, so they only listen to kiddie CDs. And if I have the radio on when they are in the car, it's classical or WTOP. If I am without them, I listen to 97.1. Now you know why I have no clue who Kane or Donnie Simpson are!

Donnie Simpson is on RnB stations. he has been in the music industry for at least 30 years. Multi-generational. He also hosted a show on BET for many years.
