DC School teacher arrested for having sex in classroom with student

I think her arrests demonstrates she is facing jail time. As well she should be. Definitely fired without a chance of teaching again.

She has apparently been charged with sexual abuse of a minor, pled "not guilty" and been sent home. She was told to stay away from the victim and Options. She is also prohibited from unsupervised contact with minors.

what, she kept sending text even after the police were called. She is too dumb to be a teacher.

The interesting thing is, if they were both 17 he could have be prosecuted for distributing child pornography by sharing it. In fact I am sure he still could be but I don't think he is likely to press charges against himself.

She must have been really into it, not to realize he was filming her. This is nothing short of VERY POOR JUDGEMENT. What could this woman be thinking? I don't get it. We of course all know what he was thinking.

The age of consent in DC is 16, so she did not break the law. He did, however, as you note, break the law by distributing a video of a minor (himself) engaged in the act.

I'm sure that there is a law against teachers having sexual relations with students.

Can you cite it?

In addition, many places have a higher age of consent if the older partner is in a position of authority over the young person such as being his or her teacher, manager, coach, parent or stepparent.

This would also be true with a doctor or a psychologist or psychiatrist.

If she's employed by any school or agency I hope she's been summarily fired

Not a big deal? The teacher should be looking at jail time.

The teacher seemed to think she is facing jail. More from Seagraves:

Text msgs between student & teacher reveal teacher pleaded w/ student to lie to police. "I'm bout to be put in jail" "say what I told U to"

If this is true, she might be looking at obstruction of justice or interference with investigation
charges also. BTW, with speech like that I hope she wasn't an English teacher!

More concerned about keeping pedophiles away from elementary/pk.

Again, can you cite the statute?

The age of consent should be set to reflect local community standards. If it's 16, so be it. If it's 17, so be it. If it's 18, so be it. If it's 21, well some 18-year-olds might object.

There's really no reason why one age is justifiable but another is not. However, it is important that the age of consent be unambiguous.

However, I also made the comparison to the Horace Mann abuse case -- in that case, the victims were all boys; the difference is the teachers weren't first-day subs but esteemed employees. So I don't think gender is the only thing at play here.

When you bring up this case, could you please add "(in New York)"? We have a Horace Mann here and not everyone is an expert on NYC elementary schools.

Thank you Jeff.

No banging, it was a blowjob. Everyone knows that's not REAL sex!

Nope, the age of consent in DC is 16, the problem here is that she was his teacher.

She is charged with first degree sexual assault on a minor. Really doesn't matter what you think. The law is clear and doesn't need to be cited since she is charged.

The double standards in this thread are sickening. The age and gender of the perpetrator and victim are not relevant. What is relevant is that the teacher sexually assaulted a student.

The teacher has already demonstrated incredible stupidity and poor judgement and you're concerned about her grammar while texting. You are a piece of work.
