I find your chronic lack of capitalization disturbing. |
This is the real 13:35 and that was my last post. Ignore the imposters! I am a Christian that has recently spent quite a bit of time researching Mormonism. We moved and have several Mormon neighbors. I wanted to learn more about it and thus you have my 13:35 post. |
Are there non-Mormon Mormon apologists out there? My assumption is no. |
I'm the one who confirmed your post 13:35. I was born and raised Mormon in Utah. Thus you have most post confirming all that you said in your post is true

Not a mormon apologist, just someone who knows where to acquire information about what Mormons have to say about their own religion - e.g. the official Mormon website. |

from the Mormon website:
Baptism—Following Jesus Christ's Example We join Jesus Christ's Church by being baptized. Baptism is a promise or covenant we make to follow Jesus Christ throughout our lives. When we develop faith in Him and repent of our sins, a person who has God’s authority to baptize immerses us in water and raises us back up. This ordinance, or ceremony, suggests burial and rebirth, symbolizing the end of our old life and the beginning of a new life as a follower of Jesus Christ. When we are baptized, we take Christ’s name upon us. As Christians, we seek to follow Him in all aspects of our lives. Jesus was baptized when He was on earth. He has asked us to follow His example and to be baptized (see 2 Nephi 31:12). He has promised that if we follow His example and keep the promises we make when we’re baptized, we will have His Spirit to guide us through this life. Because Heavenly Father is a fair and loving God, everyone will have the opportunity to accept Jesus Christ through baptism, if not in this life then in the next. After Jesus was baptized, a voice from heaven said, "Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased" (Mark 1:11). We believe that God is also well pleased when each of us chooses to follow His Son and be baptized. He sees everything we do, knows us by name, and wants us to become clean so we can return to His presence. http://beta.mormon.org/lessons/01-jesus-christ-our-savior.html?gclid=CjwKEAjwk_OhBRD06abu3qSoxlwSJACt7sZ75IQBGqDrs96e6iTDGJaq6U34z4OSyWL7eB1KP4Y4FBoCEgvw_wcB&cid=99112717&s_kwcid=AL!3737!3!44073113775!p!!g!!are%20mormons%20christian&ef_id=U667ZgAABNbvseOp:20141015005438:s |
The Mormon church has a great pr team. No doubt about that. What they may say on the web page and what they actually practice are very different things. If you are a TRULY interested in learning more about the tenants of the LDS faith, read the Book of Mormon, the doctrine and covenants and the pearl of great price. Those texts will show you the correctness in 13:35's statement. I lived this faith for 32 years in the Mecca of LDS. My family are still active members. I'm glad you are researching the official Mormon website if that is of interest to you, but please know that is not the whole story. |
|
OF course I know it's not the full story and that they have a great pr team -- most rich religions spend a lot of money on PR of one kind or another. The point is that they do officially accept Christ as the son of god and that makes them a form of Christianity. People are entitled to their opinions, but it doesn't change the official stance of the church. |
|
If they accepted Jesus as The Lord they would also accept the salvation and not preach entrance to heaven is based on earthly good works. They also wouldn't believe that humans can be exalted and gods of their own planets. Well, male humans that is.
I can make a website saying I accept that I am the queen of England. That doesn't make it true. |
No but if it were the official UK government website, with verifiable photo of the queen of England on it, that would make it true. |
Are you being purposely obtuse? |
are you? what's your point -- that people have opinions? of course they do. That people can make up things? of course they can, but some thing people say and do are factual and there are ways to find that out. |
| I'd like to thank you PP for your distinctive writing style. |
So what you are saying is that they don't fit YOUR definition of Christianity. What other self-proclaimed Christian denominations don't pass in your opinion? Surely there are others. |
