FYI: It's 2014 and with the internet and social media sites being as popular and prevalent as it is nowadays (hello? - you're on one right now) it is inevitable that EVERY case, crime, release, report, scandal, and story out there is going to have a post or comment or reply from someone regarding race.

That's the nature of the beast when it comes to 2K communication and news coverage. You can stay in full-fledged outrage mode decrying discrimination comments on every site you see or you can accept the fact that with more than 2 billion people using the internet worldwide and social networking users spending an average of 3.2 hours per day on sites and around 175 million tweets sent out each day, odds are you're going to come across people who bring up race in just about every online article and post and comment section you come across - so chill the f**k out...it is what it is and not worth getting all bent outta shape about.

At this point, it looks like the police found some sort of evidence in his apartment linking him to the girl.

Remember, they let him go even after they had the video; the video was not enough. They had a few witness statements where he matched the description. That was not enough. Before the Judge issued a search warrant, the best the police could do was a lame "reckless driving warrant.". That was weak.

They must have found something. Something specific.

This isn't about race. It's about a disappearance and EVIDENCE linking a suspect to the disappearance. That's it.

A PP here. I think that a lot of people (White people) in this thread are missing the point that some PP's are trying to make. I do not think that any of us can say definitively whether he is innocent or guilty based on what the police have released so far. What people are trying to say is that his flight is not evidence of guilt to them. In other words, folks are rebutting the whole "innocent people don't flee" premise. What we are saying is that, under certain circumstances, innocent people do flee and we need more facts to say he is absolutely without a doubt guilty.

More than anything, I want peace and closure for HER family.

No I understand it exactly but not the vehemence with which it is constantly repeated as if he should be the object of sympathy. And I'll add, the stranger last seen with the missing girl is almost always her killer, so while there is some chance that he may not have done it, it is not as if police are acting irrationally here.

I don't think the PP meant he may not get a fair trial due to evidence, but due to media coverage. When selecting a jury how hard do you think it will be to find someone who has never heard of the case or seen news reports or already have a pre-formed opinion on his guilt?

Agreed. This whole "poor black man, felt like society wouldn't treat him fairly so he ran" - BULL. No one is denying that blacks can get treated worse than whites in our justice system. But the majority of people arrested for a crime committed it. And if he were white and the last one seen with her, and ran, the manhunt would have been just as publicized etc.

I'm still betting he has a history of using the date-rape drugs and/or they found some in his apartment or car. I still don't think he intended to kill HG, but I wouldn't be surprised if he drugged her and killed her "accidentally" (from the drug interaction with the alcohol or other medicines/drugs in her system) while assaulting her.

He doesn't fit the profile of a maniacal killer, but he sure doesn't fit the profile of an innocent man.

Why make up a story about how sad and unfair life is for this criminal? This time he got caught. No he has not been tried yet, but it seems like there is a lot of evidence. At a certain point it is hard to argue that he is the innocent victim.
