I agree - but I don't believe they can present those past offenses at a trial.  but the media has already put that info out there though - so that leads to the question of whether he can get a fair trial [/quote]

Of course he can.

At this point, it looks like the police found some sort of evidence in his apartment linking him to the girl.

Remember, they let him go even after they had the video; the video was not enough.  They had a few witness statements where he matched the description.  That was not enough.  Before the Judge issued a search warrant, the best the police could do was a lame "reckless driving warrant.". That was weak.

They must have found something.  Something specific.

This isn't about race.  It's about a disappearance and EVIDENCE linking a suspect to the disappearance. That's it.[/quote]
