Missing AA females in the area are Alexis Murphy (whose killer has been convicted), Cassandra Morton in 2009, Sage Smith (transgendered). Alexis received plenty of media attention, and the Harrington family has been instrumental in helping Sage's family get more media attention.

There will be a press conference at 4:00 with law enforcement, sadly I am at work and will not be able to watch.

Graham is the third area woman to go missing this summer. Janet Renee Field, 49, of Palmyra, was reported missing July 3. Her vehicle was found 20 miles from her home at the Zion Crossroads park-and-ride lot. Less than two weeks later, Bonnie Santiago, 56, of Albemarle County, was reported missing after leaving her boyfriend’s home on Carter Mountain. Neither has been found.
Before this summer came a string of cases involving young women, starting with Harrington, 20, the Virginia Tech student who disappeared outside the John Paul Jones Arena during a Metallica concert in October 2009. Her remains were discovered on an Albemarle farm three months later. No suspects have been named in that case.
Two 19-year-olds — Orange County’s Samantha Ann Clarke in October 2010 and Charlottesville’s DaShad “Sage” Smith in November 2012 — since have vanished. No suspects have been charged in their disappearances. In the spring, a jury convicted Randy Allen Taylor in the killing of Alexis Murphy, 17, a Nelson County High School student who went missing in August 2013. She never has been found.

I pray that they find this young lady soon; I can't imagine what her parents must be going through.

What is troubling to me is that her friends let her leave the pub, alone, after a night of drinking, to walk back home. When I was in college, my friends and I stuck together and looked out for each other when we were out and had been drinking; I knew they always had my back and I had theirs.

I also agree with the PP who said that students are often lulled into a false sense of security in their college towns. It is our duty as parents to tell them that no matter what, they need to use street smarts and make good decisions.

So here's the problem as I see it. The previous link says six women over six years. An earlier link from the RTD says 13 women. In order to have a credible consistent response and get the attention of all authorities there has to be consistent credible data. Who can put that together?

I thought not. You guys want to post links and express opinions, but don't want to actually cause change. That's ok but you should stop with the outrage and judgment unless you are willing to do some hard work.

That is crazy talk. I'm a SAHM and don't have the time to do investigative work by piecing together news stories. If I were a journalist I would write this story though - there is something to all the missing women in that area. All I can do is pray for her family.

For those who are interested, there will be a rally at UVA Friday "Take Action Against Gender Based Violence".

Surveillance videos will be released later this evening of a man following Hannah at the downtown mall. The police are doing this in hopes that someone will recognize him.
