A peaceful transition of power is fairly standard. I guess you have forgotten about the deaths resulting the anthrax attacks.

Make a logical argument, supported by evidence. For instance, an argument that Obama is not George W. Bush is not an argument that Obama will succeed, though that argument may good enough for sites where logic is less valued.

Still waiting....

I never said Obama would be a success as president.

But funny, either way George Bush still sucks.

I suspected I would not get any logical arguments.

George Bush sucks - creative.

Oh puhlease -- I don't have time to recite the whole list but right at the top are:
1)invading a country claiming it has WMDs when it doesn't and convincing the American people that Saddam Hussein was involved in 9/11.
2) poorly organized response to Hurricane Katrina.

But what's the point -- we've already said these things. You're just looking for attention and I should stop giving it to you.

Sorry folks -- I took the bait again and I shouldn't have!

I guess it depends on whether you plan on sitting back with your arms folded and a smirk on your face for the next four years, or if you're going to actively contribute to trying to make our country a better place.

Yep, the bastard never did anything good

- Banned Partial Birth Abortion
- Reversed Clinton's move to strike Reagan's anti-abortion Mexico Policy
- reversed Clinton's policy of not requiring parental consent for abortions
- Made $33 million available for abstinence education programs in '04
- Required states to conduct criminal background checks on prospective foster and adoptive parents
- Requires districts to let students transfer out of dangerous schools
- Requires schools to have a zero-tolerance policy for classroom disruption
- Signed the Teacher Protection Act, which protects teachers from lawsuits related to student discipline
- Signed two income tax cuts, one of which was the largest dollar-value tax cut in world history
- Supported permanent elimination of the death tax
- Turned around an inherited economy that was in recession
- In process of permanently eliminating IRS marriage penalty
- Increased small business incentives to expand and to hire new people
- Initiated discussion on privatizing Social Security and individual investment accounts
- Killed Clinton's "ergonomic" rules that OSHA was about to implement; rules would have shut down every home business in America
- Passed tough new laws to hold corporate criminals to account as a result of corporate scandals
- Reduced taxes on dividends and capital gains
- Reduced and is working to ultimately eliminate the estate tax for family farms and ranches
- Provided $20 million to states to help people with disabilities work from home
- Created a fund to encourage technologies that help the disabled
- Increased the annual contribution limit on Education IRA's from $500 to $2,000 per child
- Make permanent the $5,000 adoption tax credit and provide $1 billion over five years to increase the credit to $10,000
- Reduced H1B visas from a high of 195,000 per year to 66,000 per year
- Reintroduced the mention of God and faith into public discourse
- Signed the No Child Left Behind Act
- Announced "Jobs for the 21st Century," a comprehensive plan to better prepare workers for jobs in the new millennium by strengthening post-secondary education and job training, and by improving high school education
- Is working to provide vouchers to low-income students in persistently failing schools to help with costs of attending private schools
- Requires annual reading and math tests in grades three through eight
- Killed the Kyoto Global Warming Treaty
- Submitted a comprehensive Energy Plan to develop cleaner technology, produce more natural gas here at home, make America less dependent on foreign sources of energy.
- Established a $10 million grant program to promote private conservation initiatives
- Changed parts of the Forestry Management Act to allow necessary cleanup of the national forests in order to reduce fire danger
- Killed Clinton's CO2 rules that were choking off all of the electricity surplus to California
- Provided matching grants for state programs that help private landowners protect rare species
- Increased prescription drug benefits
- Increased health care choices
- New Health Savings Accounts: Effective January 1, 2004, Americans can set aside up to $4,500 every year, tax free, to save for medical expenses.
- The Border Patrol is continuing installation of monitoring devices along the borders to detect illegal activity

It's a shame people will only remember his so-called failure in Iraq and the state of the economy when he left office, mainly because of a liberal media shouting anti-republican idealolgy.

13:39,

Although your first sentence is exaggerated, I think it's close to true. Of course, you meant it ironically and gave a long list to contradict it. However, your list includes many things that a lot of us would take as evidence in FAVOR of the opening statement.

There is a fundamental disagreement among us about basic values, and since logic consists of deducing conclusions from premises, we'll never be able to have a truly logical discussion unless we concentrate on those premises on which we actually AGREE.

BTW, many of us consider the bulk of your "liberal media" to have been co-opted and/or cowed by the conservative world-view. They are not so much liberal as they are old-fashioned middle-roaders, made to look leftist by loud voices pulling the dialog rightward. One man's opinion, FWIW.

Not so, Jeff, in most of the world. I guess the good old U.S. of A. has its advantages.

What are you talking about? Very few countries don't have peaceful transitions of power. Russia had a peaceful transition from Putin to mini-Putin. Even Lebanon recently had a peaceful transition of Presidents. Saudi Arabia had a peaceful transition from one King to another. All kinds of countries have peaceful transitions. I don't know why Americans think they are exceptional because Bush didn't barricade himself in the White House and have to be forced out at gun point.

This is the book Bush was reading to schoolchildren when terrorist killed thousands of people and somehow this poster finds humor in it.

The joke was lost on me.

During the Bush II years I was embarrassed to be an American. I was ashamed of our government's actions, and I tried my best to explain to people from other countries that many, many Americans disagreed with GWB. I was also ashamed that so many Americans not only voted for GWB, but voted for him twice. I was seriously considering emigrating if McCain/Palin won the election.

On Nov. 4, my faith in America was restored. Many smart people had told me with absolute certainty that Americans would not vote for a black man for President of the United States. No way. America is not ready, they said.

I am so proud to be a part of the America that voted for Barak Obama. He didn't break the racial barrier, we did, by voting for him. It is a watershed that will have repercussions for generations until all those who witnessed or experienced racial discrimination are gone from the earth.

Obama's not a god, he's a man, and he's going to make mistakes. But his election is a shining moment in the history of our country. I am proud to have voted for him and proud to be an American.

That is about one of the most classless things I have ever read on this board and is an insult to anyone who lost family on 9/11.

Where was you Lord almighty when 9/11 happened - probably holed up in a basement with Bill Ayers.
