Well, if a white men/women had suffered four centuries of discrimination, harassment, oppression & marginalization, they would have the right to say it based on their experience.

As a hyphenated American, this was the first time that I was PROUD to be American, thank you very much, Obama and the 2 million people freezing their duffs off on the Mall for showing me what American can be.

So you were not proud to be an american after 9/11 - shame on you white, black or hyphenated. You are not proud of our troops who have kept you safe from terrorist attacks since 9/11.

Shame on you.

Shame on YOU for judging me! What do you know about my experiences? Why should I be like you and swallow everything & accept what's rammed down my throat as the truth, by a corrupt administration? BTW, Cheney should be tried for war crimes and hanged like Sadam Hussein.

After 9/11, people around the world, including the French were all American. Unfortunately, that sentiment did not last long with unjustified invasions. The Bush administration has been an affront domestically (to Americans) and internationally (to non-Americans). You come across as a tunnel-visioned conservative and bought into "If you're not for us, you're against us."

Maybe we will learn more about the atrocities committed by the troops and military well after these wars have ended in another 10 years. With the inauguration of Obama, I hope we have turned a corner in this country and in direction.

"We ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to give back, when brown can stick around, when yellow will be mellow, when the red man can get ahead, man, and when white will embrace what is right,"

So much for uniting people.

Yeah, actually, as a white person, I feel quite united. This country is becoming more inclusive and, guess what, it took some white people embracing what is right! I'm proud that Rev. Lowery addressed this!

For all our problems (and there are many), we are way ahead of France, Germany, Saudi Arabia, and Israel, among others in embracing all of our citizens.

I agree with all your points. As intellectual as the French & Germans are considered to be and even with the racial problems in the US, we are still more progressed on this subject. Of course there is a long road ahead. I think Obama's election & inauguration have made Americans aware of their thoughts and actions to be more IN-clusive.

I'm quite amused to see that you assume that anyone voting for Obama considers him "God-like." Gee, I thought I voted based on the issues. Now an anonymous poster is telling me I voted for Obama because I consider him akin to a god, not because John McCain's health plan was not well-grounded and could very well make me less secure financially. Very amusing!

What a great American you are - you want to hang the VP of the United States of America?

Glad you can feel proud today.

Would you feel the same way in 4 years if someone said they wanted to hang Obama?

The world around us is not a nice place and just because Obama is a "nice" guy does not mean they will stop attacking us. I want someone who willing to make the tough decisions.

Only after he gets a fair trial.
Which is more than some of the Guantanamo inmates got.

Do you already assume that Obama will not make the tough decisions necessary to start righting all the wrongs? His speech started out very sobering about the reality in which the country and we citizens find ourselves. I don't think of Obama as simply a "nice" guy. His intelligence and unifying skills come thru loud and clear.

Have you not been following the political events of the past 8 years that have decimated hundress of thousands of innocent people in other countries or is that beyond your grasp bc they are not "American"?

BTW, as an American, I am allowed to disagree with you and the policies of the government, not only because the Bush administration is finished, but also because the Constitution says so.

HA!!! The irony. YOU - the Bush supporter - want someone that can make tough decisions?

Don't let the door hit ya where God split ya, Bush!!!

Again, the disrespect of a President just amazes me. You all make me sick that speak this way about Bush. no matter what you may think or disagree about him, his policies, etc., he is still the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES...former or not.

I am looking forward to see whether Obama walks on water like you all think he might do. Again, disrespectful to put such an unqualified person in such a God-like status. Actually, to put ANYONE in such a status. Sickening.

When I read this - I thought it meant Dont let the door hit you in your ass (where God split you). To the poster who wrote this, am I correct or does it mean something else? Then the poster who read it might have assumed that she was referring Obama to God?? Not sure - these posts always get misread and misunderstood.
If it meant what I thought - BRILLIANT!

We need more than intelligence and unifying skills.

Let us see how Obama handles a terrorist strike that kills thousands of Americans on US soil. Oh yea, that probably will not happen since the previous administration has provided you the security for which you now so easily take for granted.

Probably best not to feed this troll any longer. She's clearly delusional.

Did anyone else here the "na na na na, hey hey hey, good-bye" from the crowd on the Mall as Bush's helicopter flew off? HILARIOUS.

Oh, I don't know, I think maybe we should give "intelligence and unifying skills" a try. I think the previous administration could have used them!

Especially considering that Bush made the United States less safe by pursuing an expensive, bloody war based on a falsehood. Talk about recruiting terrorists to the cause!
