Is this bikini appropriate for a 37 year old woman?

Well, OP, I just wore this suit to my adults only trip to the Dominican, no shame in my 36yr old game. I look naked from a distance. My DH got a boner when he saw me in it for the first time:

For the pool with the kids, I'd wear something more like what you posted.

Hey, I have had 2 kids and worked hard for my flat tummy and high and tight ass. It won't last forever, so while I got it, I'm going to wear a bikini.

I am of the camp, if you got it...flaunt it. I work hard for the body I have and I will definitely be wearing a bikini this summer. If you don't, then a one piece or tankini may be more appropriate. It has nothing to do with age.

So age doesn't matter, as it's all about how awesome your body is. Got it.

Meh. Eff that too.

Its the thing I get annoyed at being American about as far as summer is concerned- sure, no one wants to look terrible in their suit but people just wear whatever in pretty much every other country. If you have a pooch its there in a one piece too- if that offends your eyes, look away. Odd that we are getting so much bigger as a nation and yet so obsessed with who should wear which types of swim suits. My Euro relatives and S. American friends tend to have much better bodies but are also so much more accepting of other's bodies and don't think XYZ means a different kind of swim suit- maybe to a fault sometimes but I think its a better attitude.

Pardon?

If you're at the point where you're asking if a suit is age appropriate, then maybe you should consider moving away from that style of suit. I'm 39 and haven't felt like bikinis were age appropriate for at least the last five years, if not more. Bikini to me screams "trying to show off body, looking for mate". That's just a stage I'm well past.

NP here. This is so sad. Enjoy your burqa, I guess.

Ha. Because burqa is the only alternative to bikini?

I'm not sad. I've just grown up past the point where I think it's necessary to show as much of my body as possible. Bikinis have never been about water sport appropriate gear - that would be a two piece more like a tankini or a one piece. Bikinis are about showing off your body. At a certain point, it just looks...desperate.

Perhaps my view is colored by my childhood experience of my very fit stepmom frequently wearing bikinis (mid 30s through maybe early 40s). We were all horribly embarrassed by her. Our friends would snicker. My older brother's friends didn't know how to handle that much mom body/ass/boobs on display. It was generally horrifying. I don't want to be that woman who ought to know better by now.

Where do you live? Almost all of the women (30s/40s+) with decent bodies that I see at the pool - even in conservative DC - wear bikinis. I'm from CA, so perhaps I am biased, but bikinis seem pretty normal to me.

The first one you posted is great, OP! Totally age-appropriate.

I'm a c cup with a small body frame. I prefer halters because they cover more from top to bottom of boob and I can tie the halter tighter for support. As long as your not going for string bikinis, bikinis are fine after age 35.

You better work bitch. I love it!

Ignore the women who are always looking to judge and minimize other women every chance they get. Live and let live. Having worked in several countries where women are compelled to cover up I say teach your children to accept bodies as natural and beautiful so they don't end up like the poster who used to snicker at her stepmother with her friends.

Even if you don't have the body, go for it. You just need to feel confortable

I'm 39 and I'd wear it.

Oh, I do ignore it. They can sneer all they want and make up a bunch of stupid ass excuses that I'm somehow "desperate". Not sure why they would be so obsessed with me, I don't even give them a second glance. I'll take their distain as flattery.

New poster here.

I agree. I don't care for the print on the suit, but it's not inappropriate.

I think it looks like something someone 35+ would wear.

I hate swimming in a one piece or tankini. It feels like swimming in any-shirt. It's uncomfortable and heavy. As long as the bikini covers, why not? Is the PP part of the uber conservative DC I feared when I moved here?

A t shirt
