OP here. Thanks! This is helpful.
So, do people like this pattern better: https://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/swim/theswimshop/PRDOVR~A4639/99103371522/A4639.jsp |
| If you have a good body, then go for it. Enjoy your body! |
I'm the one who doesn't like the Southwestern pattern. Yes! This pattern is much, much better! I would get it myself if I were in the market for a bikini. Work it, girl! |
| I think it's cute! |
|
I'm 36 and about to wear a bikini for the first time in my life because I've worked for it and can finally do it without feeling self-conscious.
wear what you feel good in because it shows! |
To clarify, I like the first one, but not the yellow. You will not find consensus so get what you love. |
+1 I died reading this. |
| I liked the first one the best, but my girls also needed more support than the halter. Tends to slide off when swimming. |
Ha. Because burqa is the only alternative to bikini? I'm not sad. I've just grown up past the point where I think it's necessary to show as much of my body as possible. Bikinis have never been about water sport appropriate gear - that would be a two piece more like a tankini or a one piece. Bikinis are about showing off your body. At a certain point, it just looks...desperate. Perhaps my view is colored by my childhood experience of my very fit stepmom frequently wearing bikinis (mid 30s through maybe early 40s). We were all horribly embarrassed by her. Our friends would snicker. My older brother's friends didn't know how to handle that much mom body/ass/boobs on display. It was generally horrifying. I don't want to be that woman who ought to know better by now. |
| I really like the first one. I am older than you and would wear it, although maybe not at our family pool. |
You need therapy. |
Not the only alternative, just the alternative someone like you would probably favor. Maybe a stripey 1920's full body swimsuit, for kicks? Nice try attempting to tag a bikini as "desperate", though. |
| I like the yellow better. |
I looked and no other patterns really appeal to me. So maybe I'm just old and out-of-touch and stuck in solids. I did kinda like this one: http://www1.bloomingdales.com/shop/product/tory-burch-madura-underwire-bikini-top-madura-hipster-bikini-bottom?ID=885162&CategoryID=5609 again, I'd look for underwire unless you have tiny boobs otherwise I think bikinis are fine - maybe not string bikinis though |
| When I was in Puerto Rico for spring break, there was an older woman...I think late 50's (we were chatting so based on our conversation this is my best guess) wearing a bikini, and she looked amazing!! I am of the camp, if you got it...flaunt it. I work hard for the body I have and I will definitely be wearing a bikini this summer. If you don't, then a one piece or tankini may be more appropriate. It has nothing to do with age. |
