Is this bikini appropriate for a 37 year old woman?

what color is your skin?

I like this better for pale skin:

I really like this green one, but you'd have to be pretty lean:

I am 36 and proudly wear a bikini when on vacation without the kids, or an adult boat ride, or cruise with my sisters etc. However, for an everyday swimsuit at the neighborhood pool with the kids I think after your 20s you should stick to a tankini. I say this as a woman who looks way better in a bikini at 36 than 21 but I just think it looks desperate in a family/everyday pool setting.

I am fairly olive, and I am also super lean. I'm concerned that the second one looks too flimsy?! I do love that first one.

Pardon?

If you're at the point where you're asking if a suit is age appropriate, then maybe you should consider moving away from that style of suit. I'm 39 and haven't felt like bikinis were age appropriate for at least the last five years, if not more. Bikini to me screams "trying to show off body, looking for mate". That's just a stage I'm well past.

NP here. This is so sad. Enjoy your burqa, I guess.

Ha. Because burqa is the only alternative to bikini?

I'm not sad. I've just grown up past the point where I think it's necessary to show as much of my body as possible. Bikinis have never been about water sport appropriate gear - that would be a two piece more like a tankini or a one piece. Bikinis are about showing off your body. At a certain point, it just looks...desperate.

Perhaps my view is colored by my childhood experience of my very fit stepmom frequently wearing bikinis (mid 30s through maybe early 40s). We were all horribly embarrassed by her. Our friends would snicker. My older brother's friends didn't know how to handle that much mom body/ass/boobs on display. It was generally horrifying. I don't want to be that woman who ought to know better by now.

You need therapy.

Yeah, you got issues.

If you can pull it off, then by all means, go for it! I think it's cute but would have to be for the right person (not me!)

The southwestern pattern is not my cup of tea, but I see it on a lot of suits at the pool in the summer so pick the one you like best.

To address the bikini debate, wearing a bikini is not always about showing off your body. For some, it may be and more power to them. But there are practical reasons for wearing a bikini too. A tankini tops float up when you are in the water and I find that terribly annoying. It increases the likelihood of a nip slip when I am wrestling a child and a tankini top at the same time. One pieces are a pain for going to the bathroom, esp when you need to be quick about it. But everyone should wear what they want.

I am of the camp, if you got it...flaunt it. I work hard for the body I have and I will definitely be wearing a bikini this summer. If you don't, then a one piece or tankini may be more appropriate. It has nothing to do with age.

So age doesn't matter, as it's all about how awesome your body is. Got it.

Of course, but I hate those kind of tops. Makes my chest look flat with a huge expanse between the boobs.

Sounds like PP is bitter that the boys were looking at stepmom instead of her.

I love the first suit.

One of my good friends is 39 and has an amazing body, and she looks great in a bikini. Neither of us wear one to the kid's swimming classes or anything, but at the beach or pool? Heck yeah. I'll be bikini shopping this weekend as well.

OP, I think the first one is the cutest of all the suits posted. I love the colors.

Thanks all!

I like the cut of the first one, but not the pattern. I dislike the pattern and cut of the yellow one. And I think that the PP with stepmom issues has spelled out pretty clearly that she has issues related to her own childhood.

Personally, I'm more of a one piece gal and not really into patterns. I know people that those suits would look great one. I don't think I'm one of them. If the first one were black, however, I'd be all about it.
