Why are you refinancing? Shouldn't it be almost paid off? |
You bought this house before I was born!

As someone trying to save up for a downpayment, this is the single most depressing thread I've ever read on DCUM.
Congrats to those of you who bought your goldmine before it was valued as such. I mean that, but realize that you're very lucky. However, be advised that I will not be bidding on your house when you seek to retire and downsize to Florida. I and most of my other mid-30 year old middle class peers will be seeking better cost of living options elsewhere out of necessity. May you enjoy double digit appreciation indefinitely. Good luck.

OP, don't despair. They will be passing them to their varmints, I mean children. Because really, that is all they have. Had they been a few years sooner, they would have nothing. They can barely afford the taxes with the property. It is just a matter of time, really. |
Has it been 30 years since 1999? I hadn't noticed. Anyone with any amount of mortgage debt whatsoever should have refinanced last year. |

Built 1939. Paid 73 K in 1973. Per 20.42, added smallish grilled cheese sandwich.
Now, $1.3 M. Would like to trade it in on a nice, largeish condo in close in MoCo, but they barely exist. |
| Oh, and 21.42, we can afford taxes just fine. |
We are in our early 30s bought with 5% down because of low rates. |
