We could call it "Haricots Verts." |
I'm not the poster to whom you were responding, but so that you are aware, there is a very significant difference between "offering" a language and having an "immersion" program. If a language is offered, it is taught as a subject matter, usually for an hour or less a day, or perhaps as infrequently as 1-2 times a week. In an immersion program, students are regularly taught various subjects in the foreign language. For example, a student would learn math or history or geography while it is taught in French or Spanish. Offering a language is definitely NOT the same as having an immersion program. |
We will do Powell for PS-3 and I think a lot of people will. I think it will become much more diverse. The school is planned to grow significantly in population along with a major capital improvement project. Five years from now, people will be amazed. All that said, there is no denying the positive diversity of Cap City. |
We have a good WL at CM, but we are doing Cap City. Interesting you are doing opposite. |
Love it. |
| I'm the PP who proposed it and I love "Haricots Verts" too! And green beans are my kid's favorite food ever so so much the better! |
| I'm a PP who suggested that I'd support a French immersion school. Will talk to a friend of mine who is a charter school (DC) founder. I'm afraid I would not have a lot of time for it (full time job and a 1 and 3 year old) but I am interested and have some connections to the french speaking/culture organizations in DC. Something interesting to think about. Hereafter known as HV. |
This is one way great ideas are realized - they start with a heartfelt idea. This may well go nowhere, but then again... Stay in touch PP! |
Funny. Want to be friends? |
Let's do it. I'll help! |
Hilarious! Finally some humor around here among all the complaining. |
Funny I am in the same boat as you with not enough time. I actually started reaching out to people and after everyone assured me it would suck up all of my time I put it on the back burner. All of us interested parents really need a way to link together... and not anonymously! |
Ok, so how many of us are talking about this? I'm the one who proposed French Green Biosciences and has the friend who started charters in California. Who else is here? Later today I'll set up a DCUM email, you guys want to do the same so we can get in touch offline? |
| +1 Please post here! I'm looking for others to work with too. |
| Please post back here, I work full time but would be happy to organize things. If you email directly mjjasm@gmail.com I would be happy to organize the everyone together. |
