Did anyone else's spouse kill it at Biglaw last month?

Who made you the decider of how much and how "severly" people are impacted? What are your criteria? This post was not about me, ever. It was seeking input from other people or other people who have spouses in this area, if that's not you, then move along, you can't tell me if this bump is indusrty wide and will or will not continue.

The fact that you (and pp) can't discuss these kinds of things with your husbands is insane! Looking at internet forums for info about family finances? Instead of ASKING your husband? Then again, you probably never see him. Just - I have no words.

PP here, I knew someone would yell about this. Yes, in a perfect world, I could ask my husband whether promotions come every two years or three, or whether 2013 is supposed to be a crap year for bonuses, or if Firm X is poaching and Firm Y is on the rocks. Unfortunately I do not live in a perfect world, and my husband is afflicted with a severe case of Imposter Syndrome rendering him incapable of dwelling on work issues at home without it devolving into a panic attack. Are we working on these issues? Yes, but in the meantime I am happy people spread that kind of info around on the internet, if you look hard enough. Twenty years ago we would have been really screwed.

But I guess the idea of trying to work through, and around, a spouse's problems instead of kicking them to the curb is outré around here.

OP,

I think it's sad you don't have any actual friends you can share this with.

Speaks a lot about you as a person that you had to brag to an anonymous forum when your family got good financial news.

I'm guessing it's because you've ruined your friendships due to your (obvious) personality flaws.

But you guysss...OP might not be able to redo her kitchen in her multi million dollar house because she got furloughed. Can't you see how unfair it is? It isn't her fault that some people rely on their income to just put food on their table nevermind do some upkeep on their house.

Leave OP alone.

A "kept woman" is a mistress.

Nope tons of close friends going back 2+ decades. None of my friends work in or have spouses in big law so therefore can't shed light on the situation. Plenty of lawyer friends, but all are non-profit, or public sector. Looking for people who can shed light on this and clearly you're not one of them.

It wasnt bragging, but seeking info. Anyway, doing amazingly well in an incredibly demanding occupation is brag worthy is it not? If not, then what is? He has plenty of shortcomings as well about which I can expound upon and do, but that wasnt this thread. Would it make you feel better about your life situation and DH if I did? Just let me know and I'll oblige.

Sweet! We're way ahead of the vast majority of people on the planet, BUT, since you're earning more than me you must be an awful person in a miserable marriage whose kids hate you. Nah, I won't be that hater. You're doing great and I wish I was doing so well. Cheers!

OP you embarrassed yourself by writing the original post, but each time you come back to angrily defend yourself you look even sillier. Do yourself a favor and let it go. Chalk it up to a lesson learned.

Now this is helpful info. That's what we're on track for this year but it is closer to a 50% uptick.

I don't get the humor. She was "accused" of being a SAHM and having no friends.
