Did anyone else's spouse kill it at Biglaw last month?

Biggest draw I've ever seen. Just wondering if its a trend or an anamoly.

"Anamoly." Hee. This is going to be fun.

Good thing you're the spouse.

It's.

Do you mean partnership draw? Dh's firm is having a good year, but they structure payments so that each month's is steady and then have structured payments of the rest throughout the year. They hold quite a bit back and release it the next year so that the firm is entirely self-financing, which I like because it means that the firm doesn't carry debt and is less likely to implode a la Dewey, Howrey, etc.

I know that associate bonuses were way up at the firm as well, so it seems like all the big law "right sizing" over the last few years has left many firms on much better financial footings.

No. But my spouse worked probably just as hard at his not Big Law job and billed as many hours as your spouse and brought home his draw of his bi-monthly 80K salary. But how nice for you, OP.

He makes $80K bi-monthly? And you are complaining?

Doubt it- how many hours did your DH work? OP here. My husband worked 7 days a week and probably billed close to 80 hours. Definitely not bragging- it's been hell on the home life.

NO no no! He makes 80K.

His draw of that salary, paid bi-monthly, is quite modest.

Yup! Tyoing really fast and not spell or grammar checking. Whoops- there's another one! Anyhoo- do you have any insight to add?

This post is so gross. A kept woman bragging about her husband's professional accomplishments. Nice spelling and grammar, btw. Go back to playgroup.

OP, I have no idea how hard he worked, comparatively. But if you can't tell, I'm trying to make a point. Which is this: you sound like an entitled, braggy jerk with something to prove. Why don't you go drown your loneliness in new purses. You sound like you deserve it.

OP do you by chance have any accomplishments of your own that you'd like to share?

Really depends how the firm does comp. typically draws are level each month. Distributions are more variable and often done at quarterly tax time. Those depend on available cash. The biggest distribution will be after the end of the year when hold backs are distributed. Also can depend how much cash the firm collects in december as opposed to the rest of the year.

The size of the distribution will depend on your/your DHs share of firm profits and the profitability of the firm. So hard to say if it is an anomaly without knowing all those variables.
