Help me eat 1200 calories a day

Anonymous
I am on a 1200 calorie a day diet and so far so good (I've only been on it for a week)! I am not that hungry. My kitchen is stocked with

quick oats
twelve grain whole wheat bread
baby potatoes
mushrooms
bell peppers
spinach
tomatoes
baby carrots
avocado
frozen veggies (peas, mixed)
partly skim cheese
fat free cottage cheese
fat free sour cream
salsa
chicken breasts
tuna
little flavoured tuna cans
fillets of fish
extra lean hamburger meat
pork chops
beef steak
beans
quinoa
eggs
fruit - bananas, apples, berries, limes, grapefruit
tea
skim milk
club soda
water

I eat whatever combination of all of that I want and try and hit a max of 40g fat, and the rest divided between carbs and protein (protein at every meal).

I am surprised actually that I am not hungrier. I eat 3 meals and a snack spread pretty equally throughout the day. So far so good but I am only 1 week in!

I have had to drop my portion size of everything but vegetables way down and have about tripled my veggie intake.

Very difficult to do but we have cut out gluten, soy, corn, peanuts, dairy and sugar. The first week I lost ten pounds, the second week five, and the third another five. I also feel so much better and am no longer tired during the day.

eggs are eliminated too.

what do you eat instead?

Everyone's different.

I did WW for almost 4 months and have lost about 35 lbs. I wanted to lose about 50-55 total. Loss slowed down the past month or so and only lost 3 lbs in a month. So I just started doing low carb foods on WW and have lost 5 lbs in 2 weeks. I've eaten shellfish, boneless chicken, lots of salads, broccoli, cucumbers, veggies...some cheeses, and plenty of eggs. Still counting WW points but chose to do it low carb and that is helping a lot. I'll be at my goal in the next few months and plan to alternate between regular WW and my low carb version, since it speeds up the loss for me.

I have two secret weapons: celery (I eat tons of it and it is very filling) and miso broth. Both are very satiating to me. The celery can go nude if I need to just satisfy an urge, or it can turn into a real snack with a little bit of peanut butter, cheese or tuna. The miso broth seems to tamp down my appetite a little bit in between snack and meal time, and makes me feel like I'm eating even when I'm not.

Rice, vegetables, almonds, meat, beans, fruit.... This mostly eliminates processed foods. The most difficult thing was to get coffee to taste the way I like. I use a little honey and coconut milk.

Don't be afraid of fat. Keeps you full longer. Stay away from processed foods - especially low fat diet foods. You'll just be hungry in an hour. Drink tons of water.

Make sure that even if you are on a 1200 calorie a day diet that you avoid sugar and salt as much as possible. Also, I did 1200-1400 calories a day with 25 pounds to lose and I just stopped losing weight after about 10 pounds. It took weeks to lose weight again and it was really slow. Many people said it was too drastic a drop in terms of calories so you may want to cut back gradually. I think that would help in terms of changing habits and might help your body not freak out and hold onto calories like my body did. Honestly, it made no difference whether I ate 1200 or 1800 calories for a while.

Spaghetti squash! I eat it with a healthy low cal spaghetti sauce I got at whole foods. 80 cals for cup of squash, 40 for 1/2 c sauce... Could even heat the sauce and add in more veggies and still have a filling low cal dinner. Lot of other yummy low cal squash recipes out there too.

By the way for anyone wondering, the 7 foods this diet requires you to eliminate are: dairy, gluten, soy, nuts, corn, eggs, and sugar

Try Carraluma Fimbriata. It helps suppress my appetite without any crazy side effects.

It's easy -- eat as many vegetables as you like (Steamed, with hot sauce or soy sauce), and a lot of fruit, and basically unrefined foods that don't come out of the middle of the grocery store --also focus on eating slowly, and not snacking, and giev in to mini indulgences (a bread roll, a glass or two of wine, and deduct those from your caloric total)....

I find it's easy to stay at 700 or 800 by 2 p.m. or so, but that it is the after-dinner snacking that gets me....better to go to bed early hungry....

Or, if you are hungry at night, try a "sex diet" instead to distract yourself....

i find the orgasms when I am starving to be much better than those when I am full...FWIW!

Good lcuk!
