Help, my bra is about to kill me! 32dddd

Anonymous
I've posted on a few other threads, but I (32FF/G) am a huge fan of Curvy Kate bras. The gores (center part) of their bras don't hurt me and I get good coverage on the sides and good support from the band.

I had to buy and exchange once from Brastop online, but they were super helpful with their online chat.

Oh, and at the same weight, I got measured at three different Nordstroms and got wildly different results -- 36E, 34D, 30H. Uh, no. Intimacy measured me correctly.

Okay, I understand. It was just a suggestion. To each her own. I know a few people who've been very happy with the results, but it's not for everybody.

I was a 36DDD and had no interest in a reduction either. Had to have one 6 months ago due to severe back issues and it was the best thing I've ever done. Recovery was fairly easy; I am now a 34C; I look 10 years younger; feel great; am able to exercise and have dropped 20 lbs. I didn't dislike my body either. Insurance paid 100%.

I'd like to know more if you don't mind sharing. I'm a 36GG and am terrified of surgery. But im often in pain and nothing ever fits right. I'm so self conscious at the gym and I don't go as much as I should because of it. Forget about running or jogging, even with 2 sports bras.

What doctor did you see? How long was the recovery? Is there alot of scarring?

I was nervous about surgery too but it was 3 hours; outpatient and not a big deal. I took one week off of work because I was on pain meds. The worst part of the recovery was having to sleep on my back. I had minor swelling and was able to see the results immediately. Early on the incisions looked bad but was told it takes a year for the scars to really fade. My GYN gave me a recommendation for a PS in Bethesda who I saw. I would ask your doctor for a recommendation. My biggest regret is not doing this 10 years ago.

How did you get insurance to pay for it? I am 5'3" tall and weigh around 120lbs. I wear a 32 DD and I am so tired of my back, neck and shoulders hurting. The grooves from my bra straps just keep getting deeper. I would have a reduction in a second if I could get insurance to cover most/all of it.

My insurance policy will cover it if you have back issues and 500 grams of fat/tissue are removed per breast. There is also a formula they use based on height and weight. My plastic surgeon removed around 1000 grams per breast. Go to a PS for a consult. For me, the reduction has dramatically improved my life and looks.

Yes cut off your boobs because you need a new bra. Goober!

If you have no physical discomfort or issues, then yes, just find a good supportive bra. But in my situation I had major physical problems from large breasts and my surgeon did not "cut off my boobs" but removed excess tissue and skin, lipoed my back and relieved me of significant pain. That I look younger and feel fantastic are just bonuses.

I don't understand jumping all over the people who suggested a reduction after the OP indicated she was in pain. I believe a well fit bra is helpful, but once you get to a certain size, no supportive bra is going to relieve the weight of heavy breasts. If you can't make it home without unhooking your bra, I do believe it would dramtically improve your life. BTDT. Absolutely one of the best things I ever did for myself.

+1. BTDT. One of the best things I ever did for myself too!

Well, it's me op again. I am now, according to nordstrom, a size 34H aka 34ddddd. Yes, I need to visit the stores recommended. But, I am so self conscious and do have posture problems and pain. I have gained weight. Not happy. I am concerned about first dying during surgery. I have a 6 yo. Second, I am afraid of scars!

I had a breast reduction done with a 5 year old and a 10 year old. Surgery is so much safer now than it was years ago. My scars are minimal. If you can find a great bra that solves your problems, that's great. But for me a breast reduction changed my life. I used to take a ton of Advil everyday to deal with back pain; couldn't wait to take off my expensive bra that was cutting my shoulders and had to buy size 12 and 14 dresses when except for my chest, I was a size 6 or 8. I look 10+ years younger; exercise/run without pain; take zero Advil and really regret not doing it sooner. Went from a DDD to a C and was worried that would be too small. At 5'11, I look very proportionate.

Okay. Uncle. I am the OP here who was amendment that I did not want breast surgery. I've gained weight and now I'm a 36 L (yes L). I have to have surgery asap. Will someone whose had surgery recently recommend a doctor they loved and had an excellent experience with? I apologize to those who said surgery who I barked at. Thank you in advance!

If you find yourself in NYC anytime, orchard corset. Life changing. The owners (a husband wife team) can size you by sight in a parka and they specialize in hard to fit women. They will put you in the best bra you have ever worn. I've been going to them for years.
