10 with a bj. I can't help myself. |
I give the driver a banana and tell him he can keep the peel... |
The drivers do not go "shopping". I'm picturing drivers with carts walking around your local store ![]() |
I always take the groceries from the truck. I always give them $5. No matter how big or small the order is.
Around holidays I might give $15 |
I tip $10 cash each time - not as a percentage of the bill (bill ranges from $100 to $160). The driver just needs to drop my items just inside my house, no stairs, no carrying them to the kitchen. At most 2 or trips from the truck (5 minutes?). |
They leave the groceries in the living room everytime. Walk the extra 20 ft to the kitchen and youll get more money |
I honestly schedule drop off on porch delivery to avoid this issue. I would never admit to such cheapness IRL. |
To 17:14: there is now a box on the order form to add a tip as part of your checkout total. I add $5 now. |
We tip 10% and not added to order...Our deliveries are always large, over $200 and with multiple cat food items...it is such a convenience, delivered to the kitchen, and the drivers are always very nice. The last gentleman said how much he appreciated it. |
I don't tip...I open the front door and my guys leave it in the foyer. Usually the young guys like to get each delivery over with quickly. They don't expect a tip and have one foot out the door before I could even give one if I wanted to. All except 1 driver. He's a cranky older man with a limp. He usually makes 2 trips. He stares me down waiting for a tip and I stare right back. Peapod is not free and I pay $10.00 delivery and a fuel service charge. Its not a restaurant, or take-out, its a delivery service. Fresh Direct and Safeway don't accept tips, why should Peapod be any different? |
I'm a driver for peapod and no we don't make union wages. Infact what I make per hour is what I made at radio shack. We bust our asses bringing you your food. Regardless if we are in and out in 5 mins. We have to drop $3500-$4000 if food a night plus sit in traffic and lug peoples food up 4 flights of stairs that have no elevators. And most people don't tip so when I get a 10 it just helps compensate for the 2 people before u that didn't |
I tip $5 by credit card. |
Our orders tend to be around/under $100, FWIW, and I have them leave the bags on the porch. |
The reason why we are so fast is becuse we have a tight schedule and have to get 25 stops done before 10pm. If we don't we can fired for having a high bpi. We are only reasonable to bring your groceries to your front door if we step in our doorway we are going above what is required. We perform a service. It doesn't matter if you order 10 or 300 dollars in food. Your 35 pack of acadia water weighs 55 pounds and we one hand it into your house. |
5 to 10 percent, it's not a easy job and they work off tips just like a waiter. I tip my driver twenty dollars no matter what very nice guy always helpful and very polite. just think about all the variables to make your delivery successfu.l it's not just brining bags of groceries. |
