Smoking question

So angry lady, if you're in a car with a smelly person who let one rip, you wouldn't open the window?

Do we really need to have this discussion every couple of months? It's been argued ad nauseum. Can't you just look up the other threads on this exact same topic?

Hilarious, 19:13, but angry poster's shit doesn't stink. Neither does her friends'. Only smokers.

I'm sure you recycle everything Miss Perfect. And you bike to work? Would you like to compare environmental footprints? Let's go -

What do you drive?

What kind of diapers do you use? It should be against the law to use anything but cloth diapers because it takes centuries for the disposable to disinigrate in landfills.

I did use cloth diapers. You?

(believe it or not - I saw someone once lit up one of those electronic cigarettes or whatever they are on the metro once).

You realize the "smoke" in those is water vapor, right?

Here's what you stupid smokers don't get-you are imperfect. People who don't smoke and shun you are perfect. They don't litter, drink alcohol, spank their kids, cheat on their taxes, pick their nose, gossip, steal, eat at McDonalds, they aren't atheists but don't critique the ones who are, they don't commit adultery, they tithe on a common basis, they never fart or spit or burp, they don't eat meat or wear leather shoes but always dress well. They aren't Joan Crawford, they're Doris Day. They have beautiful skin and linear bodies. They drink bottled water but not out of plastic. They eats lots of sushi. They are perfect. You are not. What don't you understand about this? Oh, I get it. You don't understand because you smoke.

Not the same person, and can't figure out why I feel compelled to [continue to] respond to bullies.

I, for one, did not bully any smokers. I pointed out that some behavior is outrageous. Behavior. Not the person. And you really should read the sarcasm and subtle nastiness in your OP. Crazy lady.

15:00 confirming that myself and 15:20 are not the same.

I don't know why it's so hard to believe that multiple people find smoking to be disgusting. I also love the deflection into calling us angry and insane and unstable and whatever else you want to believe that we are. Deflect from the fact that there is no good reason to smoke, no good reason to start, no good reason not to at least try to quit (kudos to those who have, because I cannot imagine how difficult it is), and no good reason to fling your butts onto the ground as though they will magically vaporize into the ether. Secondhand smoke pollutes the environment, and no matter how much you want to believe that your smoking doesn't make you stink, it does.

Of course you all will go ahead and deflect again, saying I must be perfect and my shit doesn't stink and all that. I don't claim to be perfect, but I do have enough common sense to not smoke. It doesn't take a genius to understand how bad it is and not do it.

Yet somehow it still made me feel sick, and it still stunk.

Former smoker here. Yes, it is difficult to quit. Yes, traffic makes it "worse", if not only for something to do while stuck. I agree with PP who said to knock off the tip and put the butt in the trash. There is actually a container that looks like a reusable, lidded coffee cup that has a space to trap butts. You put it in your drink holder. Then you just dump it out later. The lack of air inside the container extinguishes the butt (or you can add a bit of water) - or you can just reuse a water bottle with a tad of water in it. Outside, extinguish the butt on the outside of a trash receptacle then toss the butt. Easy. You don't have to be totally inconsiderate on top of killing yourself, literally.

People do open the window so they can see traffic. Lets not encourage killing others, on top of killing yourself by smoking.

Why is there just no common sense? Why all the stupid questions?

So should fat people. But I bet you aren't applying your anger to them, are you?

NP Here. Smoking is gross and dirty. But, smoke if you want. It is (currently) legal.

But, littering is not. It's also rude. If you throw your butts on the ground or out of the car, you are rude. There is a black and white issue.

I will never understand how people will not want to stink up their car with butts, yet they will ingest that nasty shit in their lungs and mouths.

I am the PP who quit a few weeks ago. You won't be able to understand it because it is an addiction. Unless you have been addicted to it yourself it is impossible to understand why one would smoke. I have been on and off cigarettes for years and hope that this is my final quit (I am pretty ure it is) It's ironic, I never smoked in the car and hated kissing smokers and yet I was heavily addicted to cigarettes.

I never understood how people can be "social" smokers. But that's because I am an addict and not someone who had a nasty habit.

NP here. I understand the addiction part but what puzzles me is why people start to begin with.

That is a lot of deflecting. When you deflect that much, you are just reflecting on yourself.

Seriously though, no one said smoking is not disgusting. Even smokers acknowledge that it is a dirty habit. Show me a single post on this thread where someone said smoking was a clean, healthy habit.

What people ALSO find disgusting is the way you and your friend swooped in here and viciously attacked people. That is rude, dirty, and ugly. Normal for DCUM, maybe, but unattractive nonetheless.

Actually, all I said was that I judge people for smoking. I hardly call that a vicious, rude, dirty, ugly attack. But people, smokers or not, keep defending smokers' rights to toss butts on the ground on the basis that tossing them in the trash is a fire hazard. Which is true, but then my response is if you don't have a place to dispose of your butt, DON'T LIGHT UP. If that's vicious, then you need to grow some thicker skin.
