Smoking question

I jumped in at the end crazy lady to defend the other poster. You don't get to decide the tone of any thread, so try backing down a bit, hoss. You're acting nuts.

And being disingenuous. Your first post is riddled with sarcasm and righteousness.

So either you are having one of your Sybill says, or you are really just that stupid.

I lived in Chicago many years ago, and I recall seeing a story of a massive accident on the highway because someone flicked a cigarette out the window while driving on the freeway and it caught a mattress a family was bringing home on fire. That's a horrible habit, and it's dangerous.
Plus, anyone has a right to complain about smoking especially when the research keeps coming out that says secondhand smoke is a serious health concern.
You can't bring up a topic like tossing cigarettes on the ground and not expect this to happen. Really? You did? Wow.

Not "angry lady" here, but get real OP. You asked a question about what is a legitimately annoying, even anger-inducing, habit.

You are spot on. I did. I asked a question about a disgusting, annoying, dirty habit because I see it every single day and I wanted to know how smokers justified this to themselves. So . . . I asked a smoker.

A smoker responded.

Two people having a civil conversation until you jumped in with your judgy-wudgy meanness. You weren't invited to this conversation. You are interrupting and being rude. If you were my child, I'd send you to your room so you could learn some manners.

Rude social behvior such as what you are exhibiting is AT LEAST as disgusting as smoking. More even, because smokers can quit, but you'll always be a mean person.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! That's the stupidest response I have ever heard when posting a question on a public discussion board.

Who are you even talking to? It seems to me like there are a lot of angry people on this thread.

I think the angry poster has burst into flames . . . that means she's SMOKING RIGHT NOW.

Personally, when I smoked. I would notice people around me with that disgusted, condescending and angry look of a rabid anti-smoker and I would do shit on purpose just to annoy them like toss butts on the ground. I am now a nonsmoker, but there is nothing I can stand less than the rabid antismoking folks. The intolerance, misplaced arrogance and anger is mind boggling. If only they would channel that toward something more useful, such as anti-bullying or anti-child abuse. Where is that anger and resentment at alcoholics? Drug abusers? Ugh. I just can't stand you people.

Congrats on quitting! Seriously, that is a big accomplishment. I think we all understand that smoking is highly, highly addictive and it's very hard to stop.

However, you sound very defensive. Yes, people were judging you and it wasn't just because what you are doing is gross--secondhand smoke is dangerous. And I think many smokers make a bad name for others because they do things like throw butts. You yourself were doing this--so you deserved the nasty looks you got.

I presume you're not serious about not being able to stand anyone more than rabid antismoking folks. Really, like child rapists?

I really don't care if you smoke, but please, don't ruin my world by tossing your butt anywhere but an ashtray (or a used soda can, in a pinch).

Also, I don't care if you smoke, but keep your smoke to yourself, not so much but not opening your car windows, but when walking down the street gallantly waving your hand that is holding the cig and blowing smoke whereever.

I don't care if you smoke, but please do not avail yourself of my healthcare plan, or Obama care. Smokers should have a healthcare pool all their own. It sure can be your choice to smoke and it can be mine not to have to subsidize your bad choices.

Yay for you! I quit over 20 yrs ago, cold turkey. Still, I understand how difficult it is to quit and I think 15:00 and 15:20 have serious anger management problems that are far worse than smoking. You two need help because this kind of anger isn't just about smoking.

15:00 and 15:20 are probably the same person . . . and they are bullies. Yeah, real hard to pick on a smoker. Bravo, ladies. Did you also pick on social outcasts in high school to make yourself feel better?

I don't care if people choose to smoke. But they do need to practice common courtesy like anyone else.

Tossing cigarettes into a trashcan is a fire hazard, but there usually are ashtrays you can put them in. You shouldn't flip cigarettes out of your car window - it creates litter and could be a fire hazard. You also should not smoke right next to doorways, in public buildings, or on public transportation (believe it or not - I saw someone once lit up one of those electronic cigarettes or whatever they are on the metro once).

Not the same person, and can't figure out why I feel compelled to [continue to] respond to bullies.

I, for one, did not bully any smokers. I pointed out that some behavior is outrageous. Behavior. Not the person. And you really should read the sarcasm and subtle nastiness in your OP. Crazy lady.

Shoot, I didn't mean bullies up above. I mean insane people. My bad.
