Absolutely work full time, downtown. Nanny. Nanny works 55 hours a week because she AND DH have the kind of jobs that don't "flex." Makes nanny do all the shopping at Whole Foods. Nanny takes children to instrument lessons, chess, playdates. Nanny might also take DCs to Dr. appointments and "special friend day" at school.

Children equally divided between public and very top privates (vs. statusy country club private).

st. pats?

A jackass in thoroughbred harness is still a jackass.

21:19, :22 and :24 here. Definitely not Georgetown.

"NW DC" is too broad, that includes everything from Ledroit Park to Spring Valley.

Ok then. How about Cleveland park , au park, and spring valley

What would you say georgetown mom stereotype would be.

Why?

Well, posters aren't exactly stepping up saying "that's me to a tee", or "you are describing exactly what I have on now". The posters are mocking the stereotype, which makes them feel better about themselves. Of course, they are part of a clique with its own uniform, too. It's a rare woman who does their own thing.

21:57 - that was a good one!

Potomac strikes me as a Stepford nightmare. Former colleague moved there after her husband made money. She was never one of the sharpest knives in the drawer (as seems the accepted norm). He seems very effeminate. Not that there is anything wrong with that (the latter credited to Seinfeld).

Funny, I have never met any overeducated women in this area. The men they are married to are usually somewhat bright, but the attraction is never obvious.

This geographical area is a sociological study in humor.

I was one for 5 years. Not flashy....definitely not those horrid designer trash jeans. Surprisingly, there were a lot of sahm and part-time moms. On the East side about 65% of the moms are European (and most of them didn't work because they came over with DHs). This demographic made it very uncompetitive (not caught up in the dcum rat race/mom competition). The Euro moms were very stylish--but in a practical way...not parading around in heels, etc. which can't be done on those broken bricks or in the parks anyways. They were very hands-on as moms...always outdoors at the parks no matter the weather (cold, etc). Very friendly, very inclusive.

I actually found the west side to have more of what ppl on this site refer to stereotypical g-town...more gossipy, American private school, cliquish.

I found this interesting. Sounds like I would enjoy hanging out with the east side types,

Any more guesses? It's not Cleveland Park.

Several live on my street. Like the one with the huge TV in her recycle bin. Com'on lady, if you can heft it into the recycle bin you can take it to the Recycling Station where you can actually recycle it. They don't pick it up curbside.
