Teenagers in your life know who Kelly Osborne is? A B/C list celebrity from 25 years ago?

BRITs 2026, other things -- some of them, yes.

I'm a pediatrician who does HEADSS assessments at well child visits for adolescents, and we talk about body image. It has been brought up more than once. Kids are aware.

Oh come on. Most of us are parents on here, and a lot are the original cohort of DCUM who have teenagers and young adults. Kelly Osborne is NOT a well-known figure for this demographic. Most teens have never heard of her. Don't generalize.

Ok? Kelly and Sharon were at the Grammys and Brit Awards which people of all ages watch and pay attention to. You wouldn't miss her if you saw her. She made several public appearances and her new look was shocking and created a buzz.

It's a lot easier when the drugs kill your cravings and appetite. It's pretty hard to starve yourself on purpose and most people can't do it.

Kelly Osborne also has UNTREATED HYPERTHYRIOSIM so she can die from that as well....

Those with anorexia nervosa can.

No teens are paying any attention to this. Not PP.

Maybe you do not know what is on your children's minds, or at least what they identify as concerns when they talk to trusted adults other than you.

Or maybe there is something about the cohort in my clinic which is different. I'm not going to go so far as to make a definitive claim about you or yours, but I do know what is in my charts. It's a record of conversations.

Don't know what else to help you with understanding.

Yes, teenagers famously shun the online media of TikTok, Instagram, and podcasts.

It’s really, really bad…and if makes me so sad because Kelly looked cute and healthy before she went down the ozempic path.

Demi Moore has always been crazy and body obsessed. But she’s taken it to a new level. Her upper arms look like what’s underneath your skin. Gross.

I agree Kelly is really sad. She looked like a normal person with a BMI slightly on the higher side of average before. Obviously MUCH healthier even if technically overweight then.

We saw celebrity deaths from anorexia, sadly, before glp1s were invented. The vast vast majority of people who use them do not have anorexia, and many successfully lose weight and improve their overall health. They may see improvements in blood sugar levels, aic's, cholesterol, blood pressure, and a decreased risk of stroke and heart attack.

I don’t think that’s true … the meds literally cause you to lose your appetite - it is medically induced anorexia. So if you already trended to body dysmorphia the GLP-1s absolutely trigger it.

Typically they weren't suppressing their appetites with drugs like these. Cocaine and things like that yes. But actual anorexia is pretty rare. It's not a coincidence people have it in addition to the drugs. They were fat before because couldn't control their appetite. More proof that they weren't all big boned or the food supply was unhealthy they were just eating way too much because it turns out they can lose weight.

Maybe yours aren't. So just speak for them.

It’s being distributed willy nilly by these online pharmacies. It’s not really that different than the oxy pill mills.

I think that the Hollywood doctors will do anything for money.

Being under the care of a doctor in Hollywood, especially for anything related to the actor's appearance or recreational drug preferences doesn't seem to mean the same thing as the rest of Americans being under a doctor's care.

Mostly, I don’t think Americans understand what a normal BMI, after years of the obesity epidemic! I have a normal body frame and my BMI is 19. I used to be 17 as a young adult. The normal range is 18.5 - 24.9, and for families like mine, we’re naturally at the low end. My adult son is around 17 BMI. None of us use weight loss drugs, obviously. And we’re all healthy, with that one osteoporosis caveat that we know how to handle. We’re not going to force ourselves to eat more just to reduce it! We take vit D supplements and exercise and at a certain age, we will need DEXA scans.

Demi Moore looks fine and is smart enough to keep herself healthy. However, I agree that a small subset of truly anorexic patients should not get their hands on weight loss drugs.

Do you speak for all of us? NO! I am on the GLP-1 because I do understand what a normal BMI is. That is why I am striving for!!!
