GLP1 Celebrity anorexia - are we going to see deaths?

So far Kelly Osborne and Demi Moore are front runners...

...if this happens is the FDA going to crack down on its use?

A few adults in the DMV are also looking like this. Very skinny and they look about 20 years older now. Faces are long and hallowed out. One is on tv and was very attractive prior and now looks much older and less attractive and was already thin before use. I don't understand.

I find it very weird meeting up with somebody from work world after a few months and they are suddenly skinny. So weird.

I don't know anyone on GLP-1s but why would anorexia be necessary when the injections themselves cause weight loss?

Mostly, I don’t think Americans understand what a normal BMI, after years of the obesity epidemic! I have a normal body frame and my BMI is 19. I used to be 17 as a young adult. The normal range is 18.5 - 24.9, and for families like mine, we’re naturally at the low end. My adult son is around 17 BMI. None of us use weight loss drugs, obviously. And we’re all healthy, with that one osteoporosis caveat that we know how to handle. We’re not going to force ourselves to eat more just to reduce it! We take vit D supplements and exercise and at a certain age, we will need DEXA scans.

Demi Moore looks fine and is smart enough to keep herself healthy. However, I agree that a small subset of truly anorexic patients should not get their hands on weight loss drugs.

Sorry Kelly Osborne is not naturally thin. Now she looks like a skeleton.

We’ve forgotten how notmal people look. I was looking at pictures of my grandma from when she was in her 50s and she and all her friends were pleasantly plump and let me tell you, these were not lazy women. Worked harder than most do on a daily basis.

A bit of weight when you age is good padding for a fall and also good reserves in case you get seriously ill.

Anorexia is the disease, not the method.

Well, luckily, you don't need to concern yourself with this like AT ALL.

Apparently others are noticing this too...

If Americans can overdo something they will absolutely to the greatest degree possible.

Ugh, this is so true.

Current (or at least recent) advice is for the elderly to have an extra 10 pounds because they lose weight so fast when they're sick. Haven't heard the padding thing, but any sort of excessive restriction increases your chance of osteoporosis/osteopenia

I remember coming back to school after summer break last year and seeing a bunch of moms at pickup who obviously lost a ton of weight. Are you supposed to tell them they look great? Say nothing? I just ignore it but it seems odd when they look totally different. If they made a drastic hair change you'd mention but this we're supposed to pretend we don't see it? Same with face lifts and plastic surgery. It's awkward when people drastically change their look and nothing is ever said.

And these women were strong. I saw an old video of my grandmother in the 90' and she could pick up a child with one arm.

glps *facilitate anorexia. Also, some people don't know when to stop with the weight loss. If 40 pounds is good, then 60+ pounds is great.
