Teenagers in your life know who Kelly Osborne is? A B/C list celebrity from 25 years ago?

BRITs 2026, other things -- some of them, yes.

I'm a pediatrician who does HEADSS assessments at well child visits for adolescents, and we talk about body image. It has been brought up more than once. Kids are aware.

This is a prescribed drug so they're presumably under a doctor's care -- would you want a BMI test and when you drop below 19 you need to be off of it or also have a therapist sign off?

How have you not seen the pictures of Kelly Osborne??? They are everywhere. She looks 30 years older than her age (at least) and absolutely terrible.

Not PP, but I haven't seen pictures of Kelly Osborne. We aren't all obsessing over (or even looking at) TMZ or People Magazine or whatever your algorithm seems to be feeding you...

That’s Kelly Osborne??? Her weight isn’t the issue here, her face is completely different. I can recognize many celebrities after plastic surgery but I do not recognize even a little bit of her bone structure, facial features, etc

I know. That's what drives the discussion around body dysmorphia and how GLP1s may be problematic.

I think how they advertise them is also an issue. I saw a willow ad that said "I wasn't sad, i just needed glp!"

Facial fat does seem to fall off quicker than stomach fat. I'm 110 (BMI of 20.8) and don't look underweight at all, but when I went to 105, my face looked bony. So I guess 110 is where I'm meant to be!

This ^. Except I would call her D list at best.

I have had a couple of cosmetic injectable/cosmetic surgery consults after losing a bunch of weigh on Wegovy. You notice losing the fat pads on your face quickly. It looks dramatically different, whereas your stomach, especially if there is a bit still there, does not look necessarily look as dramatically different. Or if it does, it's in a different way from your face.

Apparently teenagers aren't all the same. Who knew.

She was in the news because Ozzy died recently and the funeral was a big to do. Did you miss that too?

Some families, both adults and kids, are not always paying attention. All I can say is that when I ask young people alone about body image and what they are thinking, it has come up.

Theres a girl from secret lives of Mormon wives who has anorexia and uses ozempic on top of it. Shes pretty open about her struggles. She is 5'10 and 99lbs.

I am surprised nobody in Kelly's life has 5150'd her. Are they all really so shortsighted that they think allowing someone in their orbit to do whatever they want is really what's best for them?

So why wouldn't you look it up if you wanted to see what they were talking about?

That's ... exactly what I did. It's why I knew what pictures were being referenced in the thread, and why I posted them above. As I said, I knew about the pictures not because of algorithms, but because of them being mentioned by the teenagers I speak with on a regular basis.

Are you okay?

Mostly, I don’t think Americans understand what a normal BMI, after years of the obesity epidemic! I have a normal body frame and my BMI is 19. I used to be 17 as a young adult. The normal range is 18.5 - 24.9, and for families like mine, we’re naturally at the low end. My adult son is around 17 BMI. None of us use weight loss drugs, obviously. And we’re all healthy, with that one osteoporosis caveat that we know how to handle. We’re not going to force ourselves to eat more just to reduce it! We take vit D supplements and exercise and at a certain age, we will need DEXA scans.

Demi Moore looks fine and is smart enough to keep herself healthy. However, I agree that a small subset of truly anorexic patients should not get their hands on weight loss drugs.

Ug what? Demi Moore most definitely does not look fine...

Who are you and what did you say? I am responding to the person who said others aren’t paying attention. The people not paying attention can look them up instead of arguing about Kelly’s relevance.
