LOL PP! Go to the Deloitte Face thread.
I think if you work in "PR!" or "Marketing!" consulting or any "Creative!" space, you show up in these because you're so cool and nonchalant and you just need your soy latte and laptop and you can sit in the communal brainstorming room, nay brainhurricaning room and solve all the world's problems! In those pants. Also you have to weigh 115.

I don't work for Deloitte or in any "creative" space and I wear pants like this. They are comfy and look good on me.

It sounds like you are mad about other women being thinner than you are. It's okay if these pants don't work for your body, but you don't have to put down people who wear them.

I truly am curious about what work you do that you can get away with wearing these. I'll admit they look comfortable, but I could not wear anything like this to my workplace. I absolutely do not work for Deloitte, nor am I a creative. I work for a tech company that remains business casual.

You just wear them with something like a tee, cropped cardigan and mary jane flats. Not that hard.

It's also not that hard to answer the question instead of posting something totally random.

Oh, I’m the poster who gave that example about how to wear those pants. I’m not the person you asked the question to. But I’m a lobbyist.

I can see the appeal but do others thing they are on the frumpy side? I think it's the taper.

They do look frumpy, especially on a non model. I am 5'4" and wear a size 2, so not big, and these make me look so wide. I prefer a straight or wide leg, and I think longer pants look more professional.

why do influencers pose like this? It makes them look like they have scurvy.

This exactly. I opened up all those links and thought “do these women then stand around the office talking to people in this pose?”

I’m fascinated that in the last five years, this style pants has become somewhat popular for young people, and then middle aged women have picked up the torch. They are made with synthetic fabrics, and while I appreciate today’s synthetics are popular and expensive and different, to a passing viewer they don’t look much different than cheap polys of the 1980s. And then the straight leg is just ….there. And most people wearing them aren’t skinny beautiful models, just regular women. The end result for me looks like what a low level office worker or a manager at target was wearing 20 years ago. Essentially cheap straight leg polyester pants. I don’t know how this has rebranded to UMC office wear.

They come in wide leg, at the link provided. These are my fave and look cute on me. I’m 5’4. Also not sure why the person said they “don’t breathe” unless maybe they have an unusual sweating problem. I wore a pair in Italy in July.

The wide leg looks better but these still aren't for me. I have a pair of the Zella whisper knit wide legs posted up thread and prefer them. Also a poly fabric but it's drapey, which is more comfortable and, I think, flattering. They feel like sweats but look fine in a casual office. I wear them with cashmere sweater tee or a tank with an orange oversized button down worn open, and sneakers.

Lol, not orange, my predictive text went rogue. White or light blue!

I like the Athleta wide leg Venice pants (not mentioned here yet). They’re not polyester.

I love the Maeve pants. I have several colors and materials.

I also have the Ruti On The Go Work pants in 2 colors. I love them too - they are very versatile and also great for travel. They are definitely office appropriate if you want them for that but maybe not in trend-fearing DC.

Do you seriously spend almost $200 on a pair of what look like sweat pants? So schleppy.

I believe you mean “shlumpy.” Probably shouldn’t use Yiddish if you don’t know the actual words.

It's the official pose of all influencers. They ALL stand like this and they always look unnatural and stupid.

100% it's just marketing and the rise of "influencers". We should all go back to buying natural fibers that last longer. I'd rather spend $300 on a pair of cotton, linen, or even lightweight wool pants that will last for years than on polyesters that will only last one year. I still have and regularly wear lined wool pants from 10 years ago. I guarantee you won't be wearing your Ruti pants even next year.
