What Baby Names Do You Love?

Soren...I think of Kierkegaard

TONS of people from my college have named their kids Soren. It's a name that I like in theory, but could never use because it starts to sound weird to me after a short while (yes, when I named my kids, I tested out saying the names repeatedly). Also, with my tendency to call kids by first syllable-y, Soren would end up Sore-y, which is really bad.

I loooove the name Soren for a little boy. I'm originally from midwest where everyone has norwegian roots, and it isn't an uncommon name there.

Where in the Midwest? Native Minnesotan here and the only Soren I have ever met would be about 110 years old now.

Minnesota! I'm from northern Minnesota, but most of the Sorens I know are from the southern part of the state, northern Iowa, and southern Wisconsin. When I read the alumni magazine from my college (northern Iowa), there is at least a half dozen Soren's listed every quarter.

Ohh, you're talking little baby Sorens. I was thinking adults - not the under 5 crowd. I imagine many of the little Sorens are being named after great-grandpa Soren.

I can't get past the word SORE in Soren.

New poster, we considered the name Piper for our daughter. I think it's cute.

This is one of the stupidest discussions on DCUM ever. And I've been on pretty much daily for years, so that is saying a lot.

Shit. I thought this was the "names you hate" thread. Uh, why we are back to bashing names we like on this thread - take it to the other thread!

Well I'll chime in to say I love the name Piper. It's cute and spunky, and it works well on a grown woman as well.

On the immediate PP's list I'm a big fan of Julius, Charlotte, and Cora (I'm assuming Gora was a typo). Also for some reason Vera is growing on me. As is Irene.

Gora...hee hee. Reference to the names we dislike thread?
