This is true. Taking girls 200 IM for example, top 3 were AAA, AAC, and STA cuts and #1 and #2 at States. It’s a joke to say National has some sort of advantage at Regionals. |
Wait wait wait… are we really getting behind saying that Burke and Springfield are more affluent than Vienna and McLean?!?!? |
Sorry last comment was supposed to refer to the insinuation that patriot is the best because there schools are in the most affluent area. |
National does not cover Vienna and McLean. |
I do not understand your comment. State cuts are state-wide, not based on region. If your swimmer is so strong, they are making the State cut and it has nothing to do with the Region (yes Regions have their own rules on the top XX swimmers (usually 5) are automatic bids). In our region, we have seen the T10 swimmers all make State cuts in the past. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Ghc-ycnC4WFJ0z5JhDu3tyKkf1nw0EuZ/view |
| Is Oak Marr Rec Center the same as Oakmont Rec Center? |
Yes, they renamed a few years ago. |
Harder to make top 5. Swimmers from other areas who were significantly slower made it. |
But that's why there is a path to qualify via a cut time vs. Regions place. |
For boys, there was only a single event last year (500 free) where "only" the T5 boys at Regionals made states. For the other events, at least 6-10 made states based on State cut times. For ex., check out last year's results for 50 free, 100 back and others where at least 10 made it to the State cuts. https://www.pvswim.org/2425hs/2025vhslregion6d-results.pdf This is for boys, girls is a different story. |
Whenever it is, there is no planning around it. It will be your “weekend.” |
| Is the Regional meet for all of region 6 together? I saw someone using A, B and C so now I'm not sure if it's split further. Super ignorant parent here who never swam, so don't judge. |
They are not. So there is a regional meet this weekend and then another for next. I think it is two districts per region for the 6s. |
National is next weekend at Oakmont. |
they have an advantage of getting to regionals, though |
