Janeese is about the last person on earth who will "fix crime." She is a walking stereotype of a soft-on-crime politician who seems to care more about criminals than their victims. A few years ago, her main issue was defunding the police. On schools, she will support more funding for DCPS but basically every single Democrat in DC supports that so no difference there. She opposes raising academic standards and creating gifted and talented programs and tracking kids by ability. She thinks all of that is racist. Janeese is the far left candidate. Kenyan is the mainstream liberal Democrat.

Home rule would end under JLG. Trump would say "look at this crazy person" and take it away and declare himself mayor.

I remember hearing similar predictions about Mamdani. And yet they seem to be getting along swimmingly.

Mamdani is really shrewd and personally charismatic. I have no doubt that Janeese is intelligent, but she's strident and unlikable as soon as she gets the impression you're not approaching her with adulation and gifts. Kind of Trump-like in that regard, honestly. She would think she was really winning one for the home team by screaming in his face or something and I agree with PP, as soon as someone explained to Trump what Home Rule is he would end it and start putting his name on DC government buildings.

She's definitely strident. Definitely un-likable. Intelligent? No. She is a dimwit. It would be kinda amusing in a way if she became mayor because she seems so poorly cut out for the job, except for the whole losing-home-rule-thing.

How do you come to that conclusion? She's worked on numerous rounds of the (balanced) DC budget.

Or are you just spouting fox news talking points?

This is the problem in DC, if you don’t support far left liberals then somehow you are Fox News junkie and Trump supporter. The council is way too far left. Janeese doesn’t understand that we actually need MORE middle and upper middle class in the city for their property taxes and other taxes. She is also way to soft on crime

This is how Janeese is. If you're not 100 percent with her, you're the sworn enemy. She's actually a lot like Trump in that way.

My interactions with her suggest that you have never interacted with her. She is very approachable.

Imagine if Jack Evans is elected council chairman and Kenyan McDuffie is elected mayor . . .

Moderate Democratic politics and graft all around! I’m sure that will be great for the city!

Read the WaPo article posted upthread and explain how in the world you can take this guy seriously . . .

I just pointed out the fox news talking points, which they are, and which you continue to spout. You brought up being a junkie and Trump supporter, but go ahead and keep telling on yourself.

Call me crazy but maybe we shouldn't elect Ms. Defund the Police at a time when many of us just want Trump to get the National Guard and ICE out of our city.

You are incorrect. But you probably approached her to tell her how much you love her, not to ask her office to actually do something. If you are just fangirling, you probably think she's delightful; unfortunately fangirling is all that she will tolerate from her constituents without being rude and downright spiteful.

Keep telling on yourselves. That's the green team MO. Ever try to be anything but a fan of Bowser? It's just that.

Janeese is so much better.

I'm not a fan of Bowser, although I think she has her good points. She's been in office long enough that it can't all be bad; I liked how quickly she got the Black Lives Matter mural painted on Lafayette to irritate Trump, for instance. I'm a Ward 4 resident who is irritated by the constant astroturfing from Janeese's office on DCUM about how beloved and unassailable she is, how anyone who says anything other that "OMG she's our AOC/Mamdani we're SAVED!" is a Fox News watching Republican.

That said, it's kind of funny that you think I'm "telling on myself" by continuing to say that I'm not impressed with my representative, when you respond to my post about JLG only accepting adoration from her fans as opposed to engagement from constituents by . . . acting like a deranged superfan. Not funny ha ha, just funny predictable.

Kenyan. Though I'm hopeful that an energetic third candidate will emerge. But Kenyan seems down to earth and responsive to DC residents.

I can't blame him for sending his kids to private. I have wanted to do the same though I haven't done it because my kids are more egalitarian and frugal than I am.

DP here. I wouldn't do. She has ignored every attempted outreach by me (a W4 constitutent), including when my wife was a victim of crime and the police never responded.
