A hard no on Gary. Would vote for Randy Clarke in a second. |
| The least bad is Kenyan by a mile. Janeese has no real idea how things are paid for in the real world. |
|
If you oppose trump you are in favor of more street crime in D.C. unfortunately.
There is no middle ground anymore. |
I can't tell if you're serious or a parody of typical dcum. Either way it's hilarious and sad at the same time. |
How do you come to that conclusion? She's worked on numerous rounds of the (balanced) DC budget. Or are you just spouting fox news talking points? |
Kenyan is the mainstream Democratic candidate. JLG is the self-described socialist. |
I care less about ideology (and much less your perceptions thereof) than I care about clean government. Kenyan doesn’t have a great record in that regard: https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/dc-politics/dc-council-members-cousin-is-listed-in-215-million-no-bid-gambling-contract/2019/07/18/92aab4e2-a982-11e9-a3a6-ab670962db05_story.html |
Home rule would end under JLG. Trump would say "look at this crazy person" and take it away and declare himself mayor. |
It's funny how all these candidates have been around forever. Is there no one new who wants to run? |
They are the only 2 viable candidates. |
When you say "mainstream Democratic candidate" all I hear is corruption/cronyism. Kenyan's politics on the issues are about as far left as he can go without pissing off the people pulling the strings. Kind of like Bowser. |
And here’s how that no-bid contract worked out for the city: https://sportshandle.com/gambetdcs-imminent-demise-long-time-coming/ https://washingtoncitypaper.com/article/756194/the-companies-behind-d-c-s-sports-betting-deal-will-pay-6-5-million-over-charges-they-misled-regulators/ And how is this relevant to the mayoral election? To quote the Washington Post: “ The cousin of a D.C. Council member who cast a deciding vote for a no-bid sports gambling contract is listed as the chief executive of a business that would receive $3 million under the deal, according to a document obtained by The Washington Post.” That council member was Kenyan McDuffie. |
I remember hearing similar predictions about Mamdani. And yet they seem to be getting along swimmingly. |
Mamdani is really shrewd and personally charismatic. I have no doubt that Janeese is intelligent, but she's strident and unlikable as soon as she gets the impression you're not approaching her with adulation and gifts. Kind of Trump-like in that regard, honestly. She would think she was really winning one for the home team by screaming in his face or something and I agree with PP, as soon as someone explained to Trump what Home Rule is he would end it and start putting his name on DC government buildings. |
