I care less about ideology (and much less your perceptions thereof) than I care about clean government. Kenyan doesn’t have a great record in that regard:

Janeese is about the last person on earth who will "fix crime." She is a walking stereotype of a soft-on-crime politician who seems to care more about criminals than their victims. A few years ago, her main issue was defunding the police. On schools, she will support more funding for DCPS but basically every single Democrat in DC supports that so no difference there. She opposes raising academic standards and creating gifted and talented programs and tracking kids by ability. She thinks all of that is racist. Janeese is the far left candidate. Kenyan is the mainstream liberal Democrat.

Home rule would end under JLG. Trump would say "look at this crazy person" and take it away and declare himself mayor.

That council member was Kenyan McDuffie.

Mamdani is really shrewd and personally charismatic. I have no doubt that Janeese is intelligent, but she's strident and unlikable as soon as she gets the impression you're not approaching her with adulation and gifts. Kind of Trump-like in that regard, honestly. She would think she was really winning one for the home team by screaming in his face or something and I agree with PP, as soon as someone explained to Trump what Home Rule is he would end it and start putting his name on DC government buildings.

Just because people don't like your candidate doesn't make them trolls. I've been a constituent of hers for a long time. She is pretty unpopular among her constituents (she wins because she never has a credible challenger). She's extremely dogmatic, condescending, unwilling to cross any special interest groups on the left. If you want education policy in Washington DC decided by the teachers union, she's your candidate. I can't even imagine her as mayor. She's be just terrible.

No one can win a mayoral election in DC without the support of the teacher’s union. Fenty being the best example of that, but also see the 2022 election when Bowser and R White were falling over themselves to promise never-ending remote learning in order to win the WTU endorsement.

This is not correct. Bowser tried to reopen schools in August 2020. The union went bananas and the city council refused to back Bowser. No one in the entire DC government tried harder than JLG to make remote learning go on forever. Even after DCPS finally, finally reopened, JLG was pushing legislation that would force it to close again until it met some impossible standard. I find it amazing that any parent could support JLG after that. She was unapologetic about keeping kids out of school, even when virtually every other school district in the country had reopened.
