Kenyan or Janeese?

Whoever wins, please get rid of the useless leadership at the MOLC (Mayor’s Office of Legal Counsel). I mean REALLY useless. Those who work in DC politics and are familiar with the behind the scenes activity, know that this city has been saved repeatedly over the last year by the AG, Brian Schwalb, who has been aggressive, creative and fearless in defending the city, while the MOLC worked against him. Schwalb should run for Mayor instead, and bring his attorneys at OAG to staff the MOLC. We would all win in this scenario.

Janeese seems to coordinate well with AG Schwalb, so that might be a reasonable consolidation. Or at least they can be coordinated.
Bowser must spend a lot of their effort on staying out of legal trouble despite being unethical.

David Catania, an openly-gay (former) Republican, got 35% of the vote as an independent in 2014.

Hah! I remember voting for him back then. I'm leaning towards Lewis George for this round.

It seems crazy that you would vote for David Catania and then vote for Lewis George. They are such different people. He was smart and understood the city inside and out. She is dumb, doesn't follow up and has no vision.

Too bad.

DC is a transient city and if candidates have to have lived here their whole lives to be deemed legitimate, then the pool becomes very small.

The guy isn't running for Mayor. That's his choice but you're blaming voter racism for a person who isn't a candidate not getting votes in an election that hasn't happened.

Try to focus on solutions instead of whatever this is.

Randy Clarke isn't interested. It's a HUGE pay cut. He was also born in Canada.

And the relevance of that is?

He calls himself Canadian. I think that would be offputting to people.

Is there an announced candidate that has any vision for the city? DC hasn't had a mayor with a direction of travel since Fenty, arguably, and maybe Anthony Williams if you have higher standards.

Or maybe she's awesome and you're just stuck on partisan BS that gets us mayors like Muriel Bowser.

Janeese can't manage her own office. She should not be charge of anything.

What is so bad about them (MOLC)? I’m not familiar with what they do and how does it differ from OAG? I’ve seen people talk about MOLC negatively, but I don’t know why.

I actually never liked Bowser. I live in Ward 4 and have needed her help. She emailed back 9 months later saying that her office lost the email. She has not been a good councilmember. I hear her office is a mess, but she wants to run the city. She loves a camera but when it comes to work, she seems to be missing. That was NOT David Catania, whom I supported. The reason I liked him so much was because he was about the work and being solution oriented.

Not a troll. Why is it blah blah blah when her reputation is that her office is terrible?

Kenyan is gonna make sure that every voter outside Ward 8 sees that photo of Janeese joyfully swearing in Trayon White *after* he was accused of massive fraud, and well after he was outed as an anti-Semitic bigot. What an awful person she is to support such a piece of shit.

Trayon was arrested for taking bribes for Violence Interrupter contracts. What's Janeese's favorite government program again? Oh yeah. Violence Interrupters.

I had my concerns about her stance on criminal justice, but she’s worked as a prosecutor and so has a perspective that few of us have. She seems very focused on running a competent city government, which would be a welcome change from what we have now.

Mamdani was very impressive too to win NYC, but now his voters are getting increasingly disenchanted. No free stuff and middle class residents are getting their taxes going up, plus reduced police. I am on some mommy local forums there and, I'll tell you, they are not happy. Think of it what you want.

Which of the candidates is the most moderate, NOT soft on crime, pro-removing homeless encampments, more police, cleaner streets, etc?
