Dear DCUM,
I’m a regular voter, midterm and general, and I feel like this might be one of the races where my vote really matters. I know I shouldn’t be asking a parenting forum ridden with trolls for advice but cest la vie! As a mother of four my main issue is DCPS related stuff but I’m also passionate about standing up to Trump and fixing crime. Could someone with knowledge on this issue give me some guidance? Thank you so much, Marlene |
You should’ve ended your post with the bolded. I appreciate your concern, Marlene, but this forum just isn’t the place. |
| Janeese |
| Neither. Yaida Ford is the way to go! |
Janeese is about the last person on earth who will "fix crime." She is a walking stereotype of a soft-on-crime politician who seems to care more about criminals than their victims. A few years ago, her main issue was defunding the police. On schools, she will support more funding for DCPS but basically every single Democrat in DC supports that so no difference there. She opposes raising academic standards and creating gifted and talented programs and tracking kids by ability. She thinks all of that is racist. Janeese is the far left candidate. Kenyan is the mainstream liberal Democrat. |
| Kenyan sends his kids to private school. Janesese is a profound nitwit. There is no good choice. |
| Vincent Orange |
| Kenyan. He isn't inspiring but Janeese is a tool of the extreme far left, especially on crime issues. Just no. |
+1 If you care about crime you can't vote JLG. I'm sure they both hate the current administration so that doesn't move the needle. If you want someone to loudly posture with Trump and probably get 3000 NG from BFE deployed in the District, JLG could be your girl. Some people are actively campaigning to just get this 2nd Civil War off the ground. McDuffie is as inspiring as a wet blanket and I have no reason to believe he will be able to maneuver around DJT as adroitly as Bowser has (bizarro world sentence alert), but he probably won't spit in his face either. No good options, indeed. |
I agree with this take. |
| I didn’t know much about Janeese (besides the throwaways you read on here) until I heard her speak a month or so ago. She impressed a lot. I had my concerns about her stance on criminal justice, but she’s worked as a prosecutor and so has a perspective that few of us have. She seems very focused on running a competent city government, which would be a welcome change from what we have now. |
Which school? |
The anti-Janeese trolls are very vocal here, but not so much from people who have met her. If you are actually open minded, I suggest meeting her. She's such an upgrade from the usual green team cronyism like what you get from Bowser. McDuffie seems like the next round of Bowser, so no thanks. |
Enjoy high crime! |
Just because people don't like your candidate doesn't make them trolls. I've been a constituent of hers for a long time. She is pretty unpopular among her constituents (she wins because she never has a credible challenger). She's extremely dogmatic, condescending, unwilling to cross any special interest groups on the left. If you want education policy in Washington DC decided by the teachers union, she's your candidate. I can't even imagine her as mayor. She's be just terrible. |
