Why do we have such low standards for ICE hiring and training?

I just read that the guy that shot Renee Good was supposedly working in law enforcement for several years. That's absolutely ridiculous.

Standard police officer safety training given nationwide says that when dealing with vehicles, to never put your body in its path. He did so not once but twice.

How could he be in law enforcement for years and yet not have basic safety training? Or did he have the training but just didn't care? He let his own arrogance and hubris override training? Police call that superman syndrome and it's toxic to police forces.

He was also holding his phone and a gun at the same time. Any LEOs want to comment on that part?

He’s been with law-enforcement a lot more than several years. He’s actually highly trained, which makes this so much worse. This is his background:

He said he returned from Iraq in 2005, went to college and joined the Border Patrol in 2007 near El Paso, Texas. He worked there until 2015, serving as a field intelligence agent gathering and analyzing information on cartels and drug and human smuggling.

Ross said he has served as a deportation officer based in Minnesota since he joined ICE in 2015. He is assigned to fugitive operations, seeking to arrest “higher value targets” in the ICE region that includes Minneapolis, he testified last month. He said that he was also a team leader with the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force.

“So I develop the targets, create a target package, surveillance, and then develop a plan to execute the arrest warrant,” he said.

Ross said that he was also a firearms instructor, an active shooter instructor, a field intelligence officer and member of the SWAT team. He said that he attended the Border Patrol’s academy in New Mexico, where he learned to speak Spanish.

I wonder what type of people ICE is trying to recruit with these ad.

Ok, but shouldn't Republicans care about this? If they are focused on safety for US citizens, this is basically a recipe for disaster. Again, thinking of the one hospital security officer who made a bad situation more unstable and unsafe - but now we have unleashed people like that across the country.

Certainly does not make me feel more safe, whatsoever.

ICE is not making us more safe. A majority of Americans agree with that statement.

And Republicans are not focused on anything for US citizens. They are focused on making billionaires richer.

This is bullshit.

This, just from Minneapolis just in the past few weeks..... ICE has caught and incarcerated or deported hundreds of thousands like these.....

BREAKING: ICE has provided
@FoxNews
a list of the most egregious criminal aliens they've arrested during their surge in the sanctuary state of Minnesota, & it's the most disturbing list I've ever seen, including numerous convicted child rapists/sodomizers & ten convicted killers, most with deportation orders going back many years. Several from Laos, Somalia, and Sudan.

WARNING GRAPHIC - Highlights below:

Sriudorn Phaivan, a Laotian illegal alien convicted of strong-arm sodomy of a boy & strong-arm sodomy of a girl with a deportation order since 2018.

Tou Vang, a Laotian illegal alien convicted of sexual assault and sodomy of a girl under age 13 and procuring a child for prostitution with a deportation order since 2006.

Chong Vue, a Laotian illegal alien convicted of the strong-arm rape of a 12-year-old girl and kidnapping a child with intent to sexually assault her, with a deportation order since 2004,

Ge Yang, a Laotian illegal alien convicted of strong-arm rape, aggravated assault with a weapon, and strangulation with a deportation order since 2012.

Pao Choua Xiong, a Laotian illegal alien convicted of rape and child fondling with a deportation order since 2003.

Kou Lor, a Laotian illegal alien convicted of rape, rape with a weapon, and sexual assault with a deportation order since 1996.

Hernan Cortes-Valencia, Mexican illegal alien convicted of sexual assault of a child and DUI with a deportation order since 2016.

Abdirashid Adosh Elmi, a Somalian illegal alien convicted of homicide.

Gilberto Salguero Landaverde, a Salvadoran illegal alien convicted of three counts of homicide with a deportation order since June 2025.

Gabriel Figueroa Gama, a Mexican illegal convicted of homicide who has been previously deported in 2002.

Galuak Michael Rotgai, a Sudanese illegal alien convicted of homicide.

Thai Lor, a Laotian illegal alien convicted of two counts of homicide with a deportation order since 2009.

Mariana Sia Kanu, an illegal alien from Sierra Leone convicted of two counts of homicide with a deportation order since 2022.

Aldrin Guerrero Munoz, a Mexican illegal alien convicted of homicide with a deportation order since 2015.

Abdirashid Mohamed Ahmed, a Somalian illegal alien convicted of manslaughter with a deportation order since 2022.

Mongong Dual Maniang Deng, a Sudanese illegal alien convicted of attempt to commit homicide, weapon possession, and DUI.

Aler Gomez Lucas, a Guatemalan illegal alien convicted of negligent homicide with a vehicle and DUI with a deportation order since 2022.

Shwe Htoo, a Burmese illegal alien convicted of negligent homicide.

ICE says all of these criminal aliens were roaming freely in the sanctuary state of Minnesota prior to arrest, and that these are the type of people that politicians and activists are referring to as their “neighbors” as they attempt to interfere with ICE.

Statement to
@FoxNews
via ICE Director Todd Lyons:

"Regardless of staged political theatrics, ICE is going to continue to arrest the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens in Minnesota and elsewhere. Some of these criminal aliens have had final orders of removal for 30 years, but they’ve been free to terrorize Minnesotans. ICE’s arrests prevent recidivism and make communities safer, but it feels like local politicians want to ignore that part and drum up discontent rather than protect their own constituents.”

OP here. This really does not address the point of my thread whatsoever.

The hell it doesn't.

First of all, a pp said that "ICE does not make us more safe."
I would say that getting hundreds of thousands of rapists, thieves, and murderers off the streets does indeed make us more safe.

And, it was the work of ICE that got these thugs off the street - thanks to their training.

How many of these newly hired ICE agents are pardoned violent J6 seditionists who should be behind bars? How many have DV, SA, or other felony acts in their backgrounds? It’s hard to argue that we’ve cleaned up the streets when the streets are being flooded with loosely trained and trigger happy white supremacist thugs given free rein to brutalize and murder.

I don't really care about what a majority of Americans think. A majority of Americans are very lazy in thought and make no effort to seek out all the information on an issue. A majority of Americans want an easy button, be spoonfed narratives, want the shallow "feel good" and are tactical thinkers at best, and certainly not strategic thinkers.

Be angry all you want. But you know I'm correct.

To be clear, another thread showed research that liberals are far more likely to seek out and research opposing viewpoints than conservatives. So whatever you claimed about being spoonfed narratives, well research shows that is Republicans, like it or not. If you want a receipt, happy to provide.

-Liberal who reads conservative sources including Fox News, National Review, heck even Babylon Bee.

Welp, I guess you read it somewhere else because it gets deleted from this site in a New York minute if it doesn't fit the site narrative. Just look at the threads created here and what IS NOT created here. That should be obvious. It all leans in one direction.

So do the elections the last 12 months.

ICE actively makes us less safe. It’s also eroding our freedoms and sending us down a path of authoritarianism.

They commit far more crimes than they solve, and an awful lot of these “agents” are going to stand trial eventually.

Doubt me if you want, I don’t care. We won’t elect people that won’t commit to it

ICE's own data shows that 93% of the "thugs they are taking off the street" don't even have as much as a parking ticket to their names.

I have no problem with them ACTUALLY pursuing the rapists, thieves and murderers. But that's clearly not what they are doing and the overwhelming majority of people they are going after are not even remotely "thugs." Actually going after violent thugs doesn't even seem to be a priority at all. Their stats on that are so bad, it's almost like if they actually happen to catch a rapist or a murderer it was by pure random fluke.

They are actively, and very purposefully, putting many more thugs on the street than they are removing. It’s by design.

*worryingly, firearms and tactics training were reportedly cut in half to "cut redundancy"

@FoxNews
a list of the most egregious criminal aliens they've arrested during their surge in the sanctuary state of Minnesota, & it's the most disturbing list I've ever seen, including numerous convicted child rapists/sodomizers & ten convicted killers, most with deportation orders going back many years.

Statement to
@FoxNews
via ICE Director Todd Lyons:

It's like we've deported a tiny handful of foreign thugs and replaced them with an entire army of home grown violent thugs and gave them badges and guns.

Some of the loosened standards include:

*minimum age changed from 21 to 18--maximum age cap completely removed (used to be upper 30s).

Badges that they are not required to carry. Just patches that say POLICE when they're not police.

We also give them masks.
