If you "feel the cold" which one thing helps most?

I bought Innotree Merino Wool hiking socks on Amazon and I love them (I have cold feet b/c of hypothyroid). I don’t know know how to embed a picture but hopefully the name helps. I walk my dogs in the cold everyday wearing fleece lined running tights. I don’t recall where I got them but they keep me warm

I wear a warm fleece robe and LL bean fleece slippers over my outfit.

Is getting new windows for the house an option?

I work at home in a drafty old house.

Here's what I do already:

Run a space heater under my desk
Wear long underwear top under sweaters (but don't love the texture and hate the pants)
Wear LL Bean slippers during the day (like these: https://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/83162)

Am considering:

Wool tights
Merino long underwear
Heated vest

Also, maybe considering:

Iron supplements
Going back to work in an office

What works for you? What's the thing you couldn't get through winter without?

This is what I did with the landlord's permission. Installed plastic peel and stock "storm windows" over the inside of all windows. Put escucheon plates around small holes surrounding piping going to radiators. Bleed the radiators once a week to get out any excess air so that the water is pumped through more efficiently. Put stick on weather stripping around the exterior doors to prevent drafts.
Hope this helps.

I have Reynauds and my house is cold. In order of usefulness:

1. Heated throw blanket. Use it all day!

5. Silk long underwear bottoms

To the above poster, where do you buy these?
I use to get them from REI but they no longer sell them. Thanks

I know it looks silly, but I swear by the Oodie - my daughter bought one for me & it's the only thing that keeps me warm.

Warm vacations are saving me. UGG boots, warm coats, long underwear and a lapdog.

Long super hot steamy shower to warm me up to get me going in the morning, followed by layers of clothing and hot drinks all day! Thermal tights, fleece line leggings, heated blanket, leg warmers, tons of cozy scarves, shawls so I can look somewhat stylish and be snuggly at the same time.

Also, I roll up towels by the foot of the window to help block any outside air coming in.

Read please.

A “drafty old house” like OP’s in January will defeat anyone’s thyroid. Especially when you have to set the thermostat low like I do to avoid a $600 Washington Gas bill for my 1910 uninsulated wood behemoth

Why do you live like this?

To where? Heated blanket didn't work?
