| I’m a 47yo Jewish lady who’s been in DC for the last 25 years and I think she looks fantastic. Love the hair, love the coat, love the boots. |
This! She’s super cute (though not a fan of her husband’s politics and zany ideas)! |
I agree. |
This is exactly it! I’m genx and a New Yorker, for the limited amount that that’s worth here. Duwaji looks great, I’m the one who started the thread about her profile and photos in The Cut, and though I know this place at this point, the vitriol and aggro nonsense posted in response was a little surprising. |
You guys sound just as delusional as fans of another brown politico wife who think we're all jealous of her, too. Me, I'm a bipartisan hater. If you dress like shit, I'm making fun of you. Rama's frumpy shorts and mid-calf boot combo was bad, but I do like that she has her own stile and she has a very unique face (in a good way). |
Not Jewish, but same. So cute. |
+1, I love seeing women like this in the public eye. Even if I wouldn't dress exactly like her, it just adds to some diversity of style in public spaces. There has been such a boring sameness to the way public women look in the last decade or two. I don't blame the women, most are just looking to avoid too much criticism or focus on their looks by adhering to the status quo, since the online criticism can be so relentless and unfair. But it's really fun to see a woman in the public eye just wearing what she wants and not bending to that pressure. She comes off as very comfortable in her own skin and sure of herself, really great qualities. I'm mid-40s but am excited about seeing more of these younger millennial and Gen Y and Boomer women enter the public eye and mix it up a bit. I don't look like Duwaji but I also don't look like whatever most political wives look like either. Duwaji's approach to style is a lot more interesting and appealing to me. |
| I’m not a fan the shorts, but I agree that it’s refreshing for her to keep wearing what she likes in such a public setting. |
Unfortunately for you, the spade in the room is that you did not understand the photo shoot at all.

| Love to see young, energetic people in politics for once!!! |
She is gorgeous, as is her hair. She has a very stylish, almost 1920s look. It suits her beautifully.

I am a GenX.
I am so not a fan of Mamdani. From the little I know of his wife, I'm not a fan of hers either. I don't care for the young, artsy, leftist NYer look. I always rolled my eyes at the attempts to make Ella Emhoff happen. I prefer a more classic type of fashion. Lay off Rama. She looks well put-together and stylish for that type of style. Separate how you feel about her and her husband politically from her fashion sense. Realize she is a young, leftist NYer artsy type and she is dressing like a young, leftist NYer artsy type. Like I said above, not my style at all but even I can appreciate she looks good in that style. I won't be fan-girling her style or her/her husband's politics but I also won't be bashing her because from all the pictures I've seen so far I don't see much to bash. Just not my style. |
| She looked great. That haircut is NOT for everyone but with her bone structure and youth she pulls it off beautifully. |

I can’t believe I’ve become “that person” but I wonder if her coat was faux fur? It had a very luxurious, rich look to it and the fur looked real. But with her husband’s politics, I imagine they want to project an image of simplicity and almost “poverty” so they can relate to their constituents. Like Gwen Waltz in her TJ Maxx suits.
This is where it’s probably easier to be a Republican because they flat out don’t care if you know they’re rich, they are opulent as f, whereas the Democrats try to downplay it (even though most of them are also super rich, except for dear ol Bernie and Tim). |
About the coat:"a custom brown faux-fur and wool coat from Palestinian-Lebanese designer Cynthia Merhej's brand Renaissance Renaissance. According to the brand, the coat – featuring a three-tier fringe detail – was completely sourced and made in Beirut, Lebanon, based on a design from its fall/winter 2023 collection." https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/celebrities/2026/01/02/rama-duwaji-inauguration-coat-designer/87993264007/ |
