why would anyone make a topic of "Students were asked to write a 650-word response to an academic study that examined whether conformity with gender norms was associated with popularity or bullying among middle school students."

They shouldn't be writing about stuff like this in college; they need to learn how to leverage ChatGPT to write business reports, instructions, etc This opinion-based stuff is not good or helpful.

It was a psychology class. This girl is a Pre Med psychology major.

PP is right that there is evidence DEI trainings result in increased prejudice in the trained populations. Whether or not you find us noticing “obnoxious and racist.”

I am very confident that any such “evidence” is looking at a very particular type of DEI training….whereas the broad brush here is knocking down innocuous stuff like a women’s issue journal.

On the contrary, they need to write about stuff like that to properly work with ChatGPT. People with critical thinking skills won't have a future if they just blindly accept AI outputs.

The topic doesn't really matter. It's the exercise of thinking and writing and making arguments with empirical evidence. No one cares if the topic makes you uncomfortable -- deal with your cognitive dissonance to become a more enlightened, smarter person.

What evidence is that? Don't be like this ditz of a Bible Thumper and expect us to take your word for it.

Cognitive dissonance is hard. DEI training should help people move past internalizing the messages and see the world from other perspectives. I realize some people are too shallow and stupid to do it, but that doesn't make the programs less valuable, it just helps us self-identify the bad people who need to be ostracized from society. If your reaction to DEI training is to say, "Well I'm not a racist! I'm a good person" then you're missing the point entirely, and might just be too bloody stupid to get it ever. This is useful for us to know, of course.

Her grade probably would have been fine if she properly synthesized Christian views and the article. It really was just her complaining. That paper wouldn’t have passed at most Christian schools.

“As Editor-In-Chief, I’m devastated but, regrettably, not surprised by the University of Alabama’s decision to suspend Nineteen Fifty-Six based on the current climate of our country. The students who have cultivated this magazine over its five-year lifespan have poured their hearts and souls into their work,” magazine editor Kendal Wright said in a statement.
