Univ of Alabama suspends two student-run magazines - Alice & 1956 - due to Trump's DEI guidance

About time. Finally an administration that aligns with common sense and compassion.

After 4 years of nonsense, so happy.

Pro-white sounds like white supremacy. What does it mean in any other context? Pro-male? Men's health and issues is fine but not misogyny.

DEI perpetuates racial divisions rather than fostering unity.

Further, the mandatory DEI training required at most universities has been shown to increase prejudice among participants, rather than ameliorating the problem.

Are you kidding me? Both magazines are open and accessible to be read by anyone. The topics just focus on issues of special interest to one community, but it's accessible to all if they have an interest in reading it.

It's no different than Vogue (women) or Essence (Black women) or GQ (men) - they are focused on the issues of most interest to special groups but can be read and purchased by anyone.

Does anyone else think it’s weird that this administration is obsessed with supposedly protecting women’s sports and women’s bathrooms but are shutting down a women’s magazine?

Maybe they should rename the magazine Pat and then have articles about makeup for both sexes and about how masculinity culture hurts men in fields like childcare, as well as how misogyny hurts women in heavy metal. Would that be better?

When I went to college, there were clubs and publications geared towards women, people of color, LBGT folks. But no one called it woke or DEI. MAGA is significantly more detrimental to higher ed than DEI ever was PP.

There is a reason Alabama and Oklahoma are looked down upon.

I read that paper. It was something like what a fifth grader would write. There is a theory she did it deliberately to play poor put-upon Christian victim.

She didn’t even cite the Bible. She just said something about the Bible says there are only two genders (which it does not, but I digress.)

These people hate America and everything it stands for. The J6 traitors should have been summarily executed.

No, they don’t give a shit about women’s sports. These are the same people who squawked about the end of the world when Title IX was being debated. They will sneer at the WNBA and female umpires.

The professor was strategically dumb to give her a zero. Should have given her like a 50% or something. The problem is that he or she probably gave other poorly researched and analyzed papers D- or something like that instead of zero.

They most likely criticize Israel at some point. It you question Israel you have no right of free speech. Wonder why the students were not expelled?
