nonsense made up in your head |
It was very clearly NOT missing man formation. It was six aircraft flying in a tight v formation and then a photography plane flying near then at close distance. I think some people mistook the photography plane for a plane breaking away as can happen for missing man, but if you watched the full flyover you could see that this was not the case. No one died, at least no one that the Navy is honoring. |
They are making assets to put on social media when they want to claim that DC is under attack, so the upcoming war will be justified. |
Nah, this is just for propaganda. When they want to start the war, they'll use AI. |
great info thx. the first flyover was very low/loud compared to the later ones and it sounded like it was just one airplane (didn't see it). any idea why if that's the case? |
Who is writing the alerts? A drunkard? Monday was 27th, not 28th! So when was it for? Probably today since everyone heard it. |
No idea, I only saw the later ones and then saw a bunch of pictures of the various flyovers of different spots. That many passes is really excessive and I can't think of any reason why they'd need to send one plane out first. If it was the photography plane, it makes no sense that you'd use a jet like this to take regular aerial photos of the monuments because there are much cheaper ways to do that. And no reason to do some kind of retcon -- this is protected airspace that is tightly controlled and monitored. The whole operation smacks of the administration forcing waste and excess just to flex their muscles and thumb their noses at people. I'm sure the pilots enjoyed it because that's a fun flyover in an area you rarely get to fly, with cool views. But what a waste of money at this particular point in time -- if they wanted photos they could have arranged to have them during a planned flyover for Memorial Day or a similar occasion. |

I'm glad I missed it since those constant military plans after 9/11 freaked me out and every time I hear them now I have a momentary worry something has happened.
At least we're not getting live ammunition testing over the Beltway, like in California. Or not yet anyway. |
| It was the sound of freedom. |
Huh? They do flyovers for services at Arlington Cemetery (for pilots, etc.) all of the time. This was different. |
Cost concern troll is very concerned about the cost
Uh, those are demonstration pilots and they HAVE to fly (more often than most other pilots) in order to maintain skill proficiency. Blue Angels or Thunderbird pilots can’t sit at a desk 20 days a month and go fly every week or two for a few hours like other military pilots often do - they have to fly much more frequently to practice their routines. So whether they’re flying to do photos over DC, or flying to an air show appearance somewhere, or flying in practice, they’re still going to be flying somewhere. So that money was already being spent, whether they’re flying flew over DC, or over Pensacola Florida. Did you have the same fiscal concerns and make a fuss about USAID spending hundreds of thousands of dollars a year on drag shows in Ecuador and Peru?…. Or was that different? |
Fascinating what counts as essential/excepted activities ... |
Not PP, but yes it is different. Not that the law actually matters anymore, but the federal government is not funded. You are only supposed to be working on essential government functions. So not only is this expensive, it's illegal. Also, two things can be true. To the extent USAID was funding drag shows in Peru and Ecuador, yes, I have a problem with that. So put that in your pipe and smoke it. |
If they don't take him I hope they can take us with them. |
But for all that money wasted on gas for these war machines, just think how many meals for unhoused people we could have provided?!? |
