| I was in Friendship Heights but didn't see anything. Louder than regular airplane noise and not helicopter. |
| Heard it in downtown Bethesda right now. |
| Sounds like fighter jets to me. |
| Hopefully the aliens are coming to take the leader |
| Same as we heard right after 9/11. |
| I just posted too. I'm by Union Station and they are definitely fighter jets flying really low. |
| Came on here to see if anyone knew what was going on. |
| ^^^ in Arlington |
| A jet |
| Don’t they usually say when it’s a drill/test? |
|
In H Street area and I've heard three separate flyovers, probably fighter jets. It's not like 9/11 because they aren't going fast enough (the scrambled fighter jets over the capitol that day and they broke the sound barrier -- it started a rumor that there'd been an explosion at the Supreme Court because it was so loud and obviously people were freaked). These jets are flying much slower, but yes, low and loud.
No idea what it is though. It's weird that there have been several with minutes in between. Usually a flyover at Arlington or Nats Park will happen all at once with no gaps. |

Someone just sent me this.
10/28/2025 9:14 AM [AlertDC] NCR Flyover: National Mall (October 28) [AlertDC] The U.S. military will conduct an aircraft flyover in the National Capital Region (NCR) over the National Mall on Monday, October 28, at approximately 11:15AM to 11:30AM.\\ https://hsema.dc.gov/alerts |
Me again. I know there are regular fighter jet flights around DC, but generally not over Bethesda, where I live and work. I can see no official announcement online: usually they announce flights over the Pentagon, flights to honor fallen pilots, etc. |
|
It's a planned flyover: https://www.popville.com/2025/10/heads-up-military-aircraft-flyover-coming-over-the-national-mall/
I guess it started late because I didn't hear the first one until after 11:30 and the last one was at almost 11:50. |
