No, I am impacted and I am not a fed employee or a government contractor.

I simply have perspective and understand the privileged position I am in despite the current difficult circumstances. A great number of people in this world and this country would want to trade places with me and my kids and type on an anonymous blog their “feelings” of not being able to send this kids to Europe for a soccer vacation.

The humble brag is a nice additional touch

Your child will not be discovered on a soccer trip to Europe. Your child will never play in any of the top leagues in England, France, Spain, Italy or even the Bundesliga in Germany. They will not get a scholarship for soccer to an American college and more than likely not be offered a spot on any D1 roster. What your child will get are some great experiences and friends, a love for an amazing game, a heathy lifestyle, and memories. And if you are lucky, you will get these same things."

How do you know this kid's future oh wise one?

+1

Sorry but this is the truth.

Because if any of this were not true, you don't have to travel to Europe; European clubs would be sending folks to look at your child here. I've known about 10 kids that got looked at.

European clubs spend thousands to come look at kids in the US who can't play in European until they're 18?

Boohoo, I lost my job several times too, I don’t cry, my kids know the reality of our situation. Gov employees are usually privileged with some sort of job security the rest of us don’t have. Not paid for a month ? Cry me a river. I am going on 3.
My kids never asked for those trips because they are rip off. But we went to the women World Cup in France, 3 of us, watched 6 games including the final for less than sending 2 kids to this EU trips.

This is so hilarious. Rich people who take trips to Paris arguing about who has it worse. Think you have it tough? We had to cut back and the maid only comes every two weeks now!

Out of all the things to be upset about right now - out of everything going on in the world and locally, all the children that don’t have enough to eat in our own cities - this is what makes you angry and prompted you to go on DCUM and rage? Please seek help.

Oh, the insensitive a-holes who complain about their law firms, their “trips to NY to see6 shows” or their “trip to Paris World Cup.” There are many families who do-the-best-they-can with what they have to support their soccer player. Some families are larger or smaller than others, and soccer may be a stretch for them.

What’s wrong with having a little sensitivity? Maybe donate funds to supplement those for whom an international trip may be cost prohibitive? Are there domestic options?

Either way, stop flouting your over-privileged rear ends. Pride comes before a fall…

I originally posted first page. I am struggling, RIGHT NOW! I don’t blame anybody but myself for my choices. My life is amazing even though I am financially struggling right now. That is perspective.

This post is also the same reason why I REALLY, REALLY dislike DCSC. The club does not represent DC. It represents privileged NW DC. You spout $150k income. Have you ever seen the incomes of some of the people thriving in this city. Mixed 3 generation families grinding like the “American Way” with the threat of ICE everyday.

You guys hoard fields from other groups so that your costs are lower and your commute is easier. Shame on you if you have no value is seeing this as a wake up call. 💩 rolls down hill. You have 💩ed on those whose total income for 3 generations is $75k and now you want us to have sympathy for situation?

Grass fields are available in abundance in this city. The field next to Hearst is available almost everyday. A ball is $15 and any four objects can make goals. That is the essence of soccer. Anything else is a bonus. You should be grateful for this reality check because if anybody ever traced your posts to your actual life and the organic food in your pantry, the WiFi and device you used to post on this board and shared it with miners in WV who may have never had a shot at another life, you see how quickly you are “Karen’d”.

Families at my kids school are about to lose SNAP benefits so let me get back to really trying to help those who need it versus my first world problems.

Again, this is why 1/2 of this country is tired of you and why we are in this mess. Stop clutching your pearls and get some perspective.

You need to step back from whatever news source youre getting info from. Because its softened your brain.

How in the world does ICE affect your kids ability to travel internationally to play soccer? Same question for SNAP? Aren't food stamps for those unable to afford food. Not those who's kids travel internationally to play youth soccer.

It sounds like you're a full time victim and you feel that everything is everyone else's fault. You should look up RAE (relative age affect) and how it an be applied you kids that play soccer. It's like a super excuse that you can use for anything. Judging from your demeanor I'd say that RAE is right up your alley.

They were talking about putting things in perspective for those with empathy, discretion and a conscience

Since RAE is proven by scientific and academic studies, you're just revealing your ignorance, with pride

HAHAHA 😆

I knew you were a RAE victim.

Now please point on the doll where RAE touched you.

I'm the PP who said my kids have never gone on one of these trips in several years of playing DCSC travel, and speaking just for myself, I'm not donating any additional money to the club so someone else can send their kids. It's too much money for us to want to throw at it + the trips are usually timed to private school spring break, not public school spring break, and I'm not pulling my kids out of school to go see Manchester City play.

But again, these trips are totally optional — literally no one on my older kid's team went the past two years, and only one on the younger kid's team. I don't see why it should be a source of any stress or anger that (a) they're offering it this year or (b) your kid isn't going.
