Funny thing, a lot of enlisted military people early in their careers qualify for SNAP. A lot of Walmart workers and other people working full time qualify for SNAP. Remember not many years ago when the news reported how Walmart provided employees with info on how to get SNAP, medical assistance, etc? Plus, most large employers like Walmart, corporate McDonald's stores, nursing homes chains, etc etc automatically ask applicants to fill out a form saying whether they have been been receiving assistance, because the employer gets a tax credit--aka kickback--called the Work Opportunity Tax Credit for hiring them.

Also, a large percentage are disabled.

A lot of people you wouldn’t think of are paid pretty low and qualify for assistance. I worked in a day care a couple of years ago about 2019, and my wage was 13 dollars per hour and they wouldn’t let me go over 30 hours a week. CNAs are also paid like crap and many of them qualify for snap if they have any dependents.
