oh i am always hearing phantom baby cries. |
That is so great to hear (pun not intended). I've been doing the same damn thing and was wondering if I was going a bit bonkers. I may still be, but at least I'm in good company ![]() |
About four weeks into having our twins, my dh one night said to my mother "hey babe" thinking it was me walking into the room. |
I actually went to pee and forgot to pull my underwear down, just my pants. |
That was my husband-- woke up to find the infant sleeping peacefully on the floor. Though given she was a week old when it happened, we're pretty sure she didn't roll off the bed. He thinks his back-brain must have put her there out of some misplaced protective instinct. |
You hold the baby's foot in your hand, and try to remember whether he has two of these, or five. |
... when you wake up and frantically look for your baby under your bed covers because you can't remember putting her back in her bassinet after nursing. Then when DH points to the bassinet with her in it, you look over and then continue frantically looking for her under the covers of your bed. |
A la 15:10, I do forget where I put the baby all the time and then panic hard for one second until I remember/discover where he is. An example: I move the baby from the bassinet to his play gym on the floor. I walk into the kitchen, the next room, to get a cup of tea. I come back and freak out because the baby isn't in the bassinet.
Of course, to look at the bassinet I have to look right over the play gym too and there the baby is waving his arms and legs. |
happened today and I woke up to her sobbing-- so sad. yesterday I left my car and house keys on the roof of my car for 45 mins before realizing it. |
Your DH makes a comment about how glad he is that you had some "adult time together" last night because it might be awhile since the IL's are coming to visit...and you ask "we did it last night?!" |
Classic! My first question would have been about birth control. |
driving off with a potty on the roof of your car because you're also potty training your toddler at the moment and he will only use the "froggy potty" when he's out of the house. |

When you pour a cup of coffee in a babys bottle. |
until DS was in a crib in his own room, i would routinely wake up in a panic thinking that I had fallen asleep with the baby in the bed and he was suffocating (when in reality II had nursed, changed diaper, reswaddled, rocked and put in bassinet and then pumped--every three hours, catnapping between sessions). TAlthough I've mostly stopped this, the other night DH woke up at 3 am in a panic saying "where's DS? where's DS?"--even though DS has been peacefully sleping in his room for the past 7 months. |
