Whats going on at Wootton? All the counselors are gone?

I disagree. Most admin I’ve worked under respect our contract. The ones that don’t were usually just too lazy to even read it. They didn’t know what was in it, so they would make mistakes because of ignorance. If teachers speak up, MCEA will hold the admin accountable.

They absolutely DO NOT respect it. I’m not sure where you work but admins do not respect the contract or ADAs.

I don’t want to pile on because we are generally happy at Wootton and want to give new staff time to settle in but what is going on with transcripts? My senior applied to most colleges as soon as the common app opened and no transcripts were sent. He followed up with the school multiple times and got a vague answer that they’re not ready to send. He saw a copy of his transcript over the summer so they had them then. He’s getting nervous.

This is not a Wootton issue. Mcps transcripts were uploaded to Naviance very late this year. Only last week.

Please check their transcript. Ours had multiple mistakes. A couple of courses that were dropped early in the quarter came up as NG (not graded). The school fixed it but it took weeks!

I've been around long enough to see this same pattern play out at Whitman, Churchill, and a few others. Typical smear post. Wootton gets dragged into the mud for an isolated incident that would get a yawn at Blair or Kennedy.

It is more than one event that was handled poorly. It was how the staff were treated everyday over that year. For a school who only had a couple of people leave the year before, where people go and stay until retirement, to see almost 50 people school wide leave and 75% of the counselors, this shows a long term problem. The fact that no one on the county level also shows that MCPS does not care about its staff.

Oh please, that’s not true. No school is perfect and they all have issues.

I have 2 kids at Wootton and their new counselor is awful.

Doesn’t respond to emails, acts like any request is putting her out.

It’s very frustrating. Our old counselor who left at the start of the year was so helpful and kind.
