Admin was listed as your child’s counselor because his counselor left after school started. She took the previous counselor’s caseload until they hire someone. I understand the new counselor will be starting next week. |
| Who brought up there was an antisemitic incident there recently (this school year)? |
According to my ds, the old counselor wrote letters of rec for all seniors who gave them their information before the end of last year. I have heard that the new counselors are writing letters of rec for all students who did not turn in their stuff. Sounds like it is being handled. Must be good collaboration between old and new counselors. |
A counselor left after the school year started. The admin is filling in but from what I understand all the other counselors are also pitching in. This happens often when a counselor is on long term leave. It is nice that the admin is also helping and not just leaving it up to the counselors. |

If Doug Nelson was so bad, why is he working in the department of psychological services?
We were told that he blatantly refused to follow MCPS orders and have teachers complete mandatory training. This led to a student writing the N word on a desk. Another student typed the N word and printed it out a 1000x. This really, actually happened. |
You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. The counselors left not because of him. |
So they left because he was forced out? |
The students typed the N word because teachers didn't attend a training? |

Mr. Nelson has not worked at Wootton since December. This has everything to do with the poor staff climate created by the new administration...
"Out of the 27 high schools in MCPS, the school had the lowest satisfaction percentage for seven of the 15 survey questions." https://woottoncommonsense.com/24714/features/administration-aims-to-rebuild-fractured-staff-work-culture/ |
This article illustrates the negative impact that Moran’s Central Office directly has on teachers and students. Key insights include: “Nelson was ultimately found not guilty for the charge against him that he did not follow MCPS’ hate bias protocol.” “As staff members tried to do their work, they wanted to receive support from the new administration, but there were people from MCPS central office who came in, ‘and basically told us that we were the problem, and that didn’t sit well with us” A sad state of affairs and a lot of tax dollars wasted here. |

It is time to let this strand die.
Many staff members left Wootton (almost 50). Maybe they did not like the direction the new administration was taking. New staff members were hired who like the new direction. The current administration is working very hard to support the new staff. The new staff are working hard to help all students. The students are doing just as well as before, and maybe even better. |
I take it you work there and you like the new direction. Or are you central trying to do damage control? Weird post. |
| Weird post. I agree. |
Why are you still speculating why 50 staff left? Read the article! It was spot on! |
Great article. |
