BC vs Miami vs Wake

Anonymous
The same misguided poster always pops up and attempts to hurl insults at BC with the hard-hitting "it's a safety school" and "it's not even the best school near/in/around Boston" and he always emphasizes how "catholic" the school is (with no personal experience). Such dumb-assery. I mean, sure, BC is consistently ranked 37th nationally - so there's no debate that 36 schools are ranked higher. What's the dig with "it's a safety school" and "other Boston schools are higher ranked"? Those aren't in question and not at all relevant to the question BC/Miami/Wake.

It is possible second tier private colleges will become safeties for top flagships. Why go to Wake over UNC, Emory over UGA, etc.

Not with their offers of free tuition for families under 200k!

Start your own thread and ask that irrelevant question if you're really interested (you won't because you're not). Let people can answer OP's questions here.

I think all three schools have great things to recommend them so your DC should pick based on which seems like the best fit.

Caution, though: BC is much harder RD (and they yield protect). I think that's true about Miami too, but I'm not sure, and I have no clue about Wake.

Wake is significantly more difficult in RD as well acceptance rate plummets to around 10 percent but they do not yield protect. I know a fe kids offered full merit scholarships at Wake who instead went to an Ivy.

What percentage of the student body qualifies? It’s all bullshit unless they actually admit more of the kids that qualify.

What in the world are you smoking?

I think it's pretty clear that BC is at least a step above Villanova. I don't know anybody other than Richmond parents who think that Wake Forest is a pair of Richmond.

Wake Forest is definitely not the best school in the state, but it is certainly on par with Carolina and Davidson.

Boston College is, as someone else pointed out, the toughest admit out of these three.

Everyone is welcome to an opinion, but this is a particularly poorly informed one.

What are you talking about? All of the acceptance rates are 15-20%

Save money go to respective state flagships. Does it matter if you go to a private outside the top 40. No.

When considering how good BC is, keep in mind that it belongs with Miami and Wake Forest

Nope. Multiple posters. It’s a Catholic school, do you disagree with that?

Miami is a booming city and a rising school with better sports. Wake attracts preppy kids and southeastern bros and more attractive women. BC is for people with winter bodies, who couldn’t get into a decent fraternity, and couldn’t get into a top 35 school

Would a liberal be welcome at BC?

Most kids are liberal. It’s Massachusetts and it’s Jesuit.

You’d be surprised. A group of BC seniors poured gasoline on an outspoken atheist freshman and yelled “this is MAGA country” last year

Plus, student body definitely fitter at Miami….

PS: I went to BC and husband to Miami.

This. BC has had decades of pushing to crack the T30 and it has peaked. Miami has so much going for it. South Florida will be a peer of LA NY Chicago in a decade. Boston is a backwater in comparison

You’d be surprised if you don’t think most kids are liberal. I said “most.” And I don’t mean just over 50%. High low on 80% democratic voters…
