Who told you no? I was able to make a CVS appt for tomorrow in McLean. I don't expect a problem.

In VA, you'll need a prescription, but pharmacists otherwise can administer it to you.

Over the age of 65 (I asked bc my mom is in her eighties) can just go through the regular pharmacy like we’ve done before. The nurse somewhat gave me a hard time since she kept say the supply is limited and these really should be for ppl over the age of 65 but I explained I have high BP (my rx is in cvs’s system so she could see that) and ultimately she said she wasn’t going to deny anyone the vaccine so long as she can put down in the system why you need it. My teen has adhd so I’ll prob bring her maybe in a week or so once things have calmed down and might try a different cvs since I don’t want to return to this same nurse, who just seemed overall annoyed but I can understand the stress she’s under being on the front lines of this absurdity.

I’m sorry you had this experience. And I don’t know why you were told that anyone under 65 had to go to a Minute Clinic. My family, all of us under 65, got ours at a regular MoCo pharmacy this weekend, no issues.

Care to share which one? The cvs that was giving me a hard time is in Potomac.

Pp here. Sure, it was the CVS in the Wheaton Target. But I don’t think they’re unique. Unfortunately I think you got the bad apple.

Washington Post had an article on this yesterday or the day before. Seems like it is reasonably easy for folks and Maryland to get them. I went on the Walgreens and CVS sites and just hit that I had one of those conditions. And they let me schedule it. I haven’t completed it yet, but I do plan to get it later this month. I’m 49 with no health risks listed.

Here is the thing, the physical inactivity is the ultimate loophole. There is documentation at my doctor’s office that I’ve never smoked, don’t have any of those other conditions. But physical inactivity is not documented anywhere in the medical record. I last went to the doctor nine months ago, so even if I filled out a sheet that I was physically active, no one can prove that in the last several months I’ve been physically active.

I think that is the loophole that most people can use. The thing about CVS and Walgreens, they love foot traffic from vaccines. They don’t want to make it harder for people to get vaccines. They of course, have to follow laws and regulations, so they are not going to encourage people to get vaccines they don’t need and states with restrictions around what pharmacist can do. They will comply. But Maryland has made it reasonably easy since pharmacists don’t need a prescription to give vaccines.

Correct. True for everyone, including 65+.

NP. CVS at Wildwood yesterday. They were taking walk-ins too.

The one on Tuckerman Lane is where we went Friday. They had walk-ins welcome signs out.

Last week we could not find a CVs, Walgreens or Safeway in Arlington or Fairfax counties to give us vaccines even as 65+ with prescriptions. That's why we went to MD.
Something must have changed if people are getting them now.
BTW mNEXSPIKE was great. Tiny bit of arm soreness.

You've been misinformed.
I got the covid vax at CVS minute clinic in McLean today. No Rx or any justification needed. I'm under 65.

Also got mine here (and one of my teenage kids). Easy, no questions asked.

Virginia's laws do not currently allow pharmacists to administer the vaccine without a prescription.

Minute Clinics have Nurse Practitioners who prescribe.
That's what our CVS vac cert said. Administered by X prescribed by Y who must have been the woman sitting in the pharmacy cubicle.

Stop. I'm not sure if you're intentionally being obtuse. But CVS Minute Clinic in Virginia is administering the covid vaccine to under 65 yr olds. The NP who game me my shot yesterday said I did not need a prescription (even though I brought one with me). Side note: no till effects from the covid & flu vaccines!

The pharmacy does not have your medical records. All you have to do is say that your kid has "physical inactivity" or "autism" and they can get it. In this case, it is perfectly fine to lie about a medical condition.
