The high stats engineering kids will be all over it. So, the smart kids. And they will choose Michigan over several Ivies. |
Still $10-15k cheaper than comparable privates. |
All of this talk about “Ivy level” kids as if Ivy admittance for unhooked kids isn’t a total crapshoot. Plenty will take a Michigan ED option if ED offers a clear boost. |
Don’t disagree with you, but the ones that have a legit shot won’t settle. |
^ Settle sounds rude, didn’t mean it badly, meant they will want to play it out. |
This year. 25-26 cycle. |
For sure, I just think some of these comments are a bit too quick to claim that some high stats kids won’t jump on this. |
My OOS top 5% in his HS kid with top rigor, scores, stats would love to ED Michigan. Unfortunately, it will still be EA for him (us) as we need to look at the financial package. |
I wouldn't be surprised if this cause an NEU like effect on the admissions rate and take it from 15% to something absurd like 7-8% similar to UCLA |
Not true. |
This is a joke. For in-state UM makes sense, yes in-state may choose UM over ivies. For OOS, there are several strong private schools such as CMU Harvey Mudd USC, and public engineering school such as Georgia Tech. You really have to wait it out to see what options you have. No, OOS would not ED UM, it's foolish. |
OOS alumni kids will and there a lot of them. |
Please look at the CDS for all schools you are applying to. If you need merit and not aid, Michigan will not help you. |

It’s 100% true, go look up the COA at each school. It’s all on the schools’ websites and can be found with simple googling. |
