You are a dick. That’s all. |
And do they have enough dorm rooms? |
My DD's top choice was UM, and that's where she's going. All 5 on APs, 35 ACTs, top rigor classes and intense impactful ecs. And to the poster above, I'm pretty sure my DD could run circles around you. Her older sister's at a top ivy and she knew she did not want the same experience. |
Yes this will attract low tier OOS candidates on par with the in-state cohort. |
2300 new dorm rooms will be opening in fall 2026. |
harsh but true. UVA ED is a second or third decile choice for our private. A few top kids love it and ED but most in the top decile do EA and hope for an ivy or Duke in ED (or RD). Top 10% has 97% acceptance in EA for UVA in state. |
For OOS, private tuition in a large public school, and ED binding? That's extreme. For that tuition, you better have several options for comparison. |
The oos willing to pay is for kids that it’s a reach and they’ll be delighted to get in. |
They’ll get SO many in-state ED applications. It’s not like Virginia that has UVA, W&M and kids going to private schools. Grew up in Michigan and UofM is the goal for high achieving students. |
All of the top schools should offer ED. |
Next year. 26-27 cycle |
Paying private Top 10 tuition for a big ten state university OOS is a tough sell for many. So, ED will definitely help their yield. |
https://admissions.umich.edu/apply/first-year-applicants/requirements-deadlines/application-changes Looks like it will take effect for the cohort applying starting this August. |
Why wouldn't it be if they are paying OOS tuition. The challenge is convincing out of states to commit to that tuition for a big state school. ED will help them by getting those early contractual commits. Good move by them |
meant in-state tuition. |
