Which forum on here attracts the most troll or just plain crazy/angry posters in your opinion?

^I suspect she's one of the royal nutters.

It is definitely the relationship forum. Bunch of crazies in there.

Politics is full of crazy MAGAs or bots. I really the miss Political forum from 2000-2015. The posts were usually insightful, often gave an insiders view to policy and current events, and shockingly people actually discussed issues. Now it’s garbage, flood the zone crap and any discussion is buried in furious keyboard warriors or bots drowning everything.

I'm guessing it is Politics, but I've literally never opened a thread in there because I don't want to see it, lol.

Fashion threads often get quite ugly. As do relationship threads. But the rage against people using GLP-1 medications in the diet threads ... it's unhinged and says nasty things about our culture.

Not really trolling or crazy/angry posting ... but I'll add that I'm a lawyer and most of the need-advice-on-law-school (there seem to be almost constant the what-should-my-kid's-major-be posts) or need-advice-on-legal-careers thread commenters are clearly not lawyers and have no idea what they are talking about. Often they claim to be "a big law partner" (they can't seem to just stop their lie at "I'm a lawyer") and it's easy to tell that they are not given what nonsense they are spouting. So I wouldn't trust any of the advice on those threads. Probably 20% of the folks claiming to be lawyers actually are. But free internet advice is generally going to be worth what you pay for it ... so ... caveat emptor.

1) College
2) Private Schools (hell hath no fury like those paying $40k a year)
3) Money and Finance--most of the posts are so stupid,
(ex: I am poor even though I earn 800K a year), I have to think people are just trolling.

Good point. There is so much of this.

Sometimes I’m surprised by what gets deleted or locked, eg it seems fairly innocuous. I recall being really interested in this thread on traveling to India (I was thinking about a trip) and it was locked because someone was posting about safety for women travelers. Seemed like a fair discussion and I didn’t understand why it was locked.

But other times it seems like there are really disruptive and aggressive posters who don’t seem to be restricted at all. I often wonder if some of the nasty posts are from the same poster as there are a few who seem to have a telling posting ‘style’, but who knows?

It’s the moderators world and we just all live in it. Anonymous forums that can be edited are, well, you get what you get. And the owner gets a lot of money.

True, I guess I just assumed we’d get a more professional moderation on here, especially if a lot of money is made (you think?).

Sometimes when I see people ask about a deleted thread or post or ban, the Dcum response seems so random and almost petty, like a middle schooler!

Same. It used to be downright enlightening.

It's a private website. You don't have to post on it, if you can find better. Or you can start your own, if it's that easy.

But there is no entitlement to professional moderation on a personal website. Welcome to the real world.

I think there are a bunch of babies on here who report things that hurt their thin skin when they can just click away. I've seen it in interesting discussions like you mention, PP.

Yeah, that seems accurate to me. It frustrates me because interesting threads get locked or things are deleted. Meanwhile my sense is those ‘reporters’ are often the nasty in other posts but who knows? There was a poster in a thread I was on recently who was insulting people left and right, and a few posts clapped back at her/him. Those posts were deleted, not the op’s.

I remember that thread on India. I posted to it because I lived in India for a few years and subsequently travelled there for work 15+ times. Figured I'd share what I know. Then one day I went back to check it and it was locked. I dont' even remember anything particularly bad on the thread. There were some people posting bad (imo) advice and ignoring some of the concerns you might face as a solo female traveller, but nothing compared to some of the hate I've seen on other topics.

That thread was really good but there are people who can't tolerate hearing anything bad about other countries because I guess they take it personally? 🤷‍♀️

It’s interesting. I confess that I can be biting and sarcastic in responding to posts that are clearly ridiculous and factually inaccurate, and that from time to time my post are deleted. But there appears to be no rhyme or reason for when it occurs. Some of my “worst“ stuff remains, well some pretty innocuous stuff gets deleted. So I don’t get it.

Relationship and Family are super toxic and scary. I can understand people anonymously bragging on money or college forums for the consumption of internet posters - but the hatred within the families which they confess to is something else.

Similarly, I can understand SAHM vs WOHM...but I cannot understand hating on their own spouse, children etc. The one recently about the freshman kid who is recovereing from mono at home and does not have a job is something else. Only a monster could have written it...but, it is common on DCUM.
